This weekend we gathered in Houston to celebrate Doug Stringer 45th year in ministry and his 70th Birthday. It was such a wonderful time to re-visit with all the people that I had the privilege of serving alongside from December 2008 through January 2012. The same year that Terry and I met and married, Doug and his wife, Lisa married and she has been an integral part of Somebody Cares and Turning Point Ministries ever since. His ministry started in 1981 and continues today all around the world. What a privilege it has been to be a part of this ministry. This particular video is about the time that I started really connecting to Somebody Cares. I would have never dreamed back then that I would be a part of something so much bigger than myself. When we connect to the Body of Christ, there is a beautiful synergy from the Lord and LIVES ARE CHANGED. Mine sure has been!

Thank you Doug and Lisa for allowing me to be a part of your calling to REACH Houston and the Nations! I love you!

Through Somebody Cares’ Serving the Servant initiative, Doug and Lisa Stringer, our chapters, and ministry partners bring practical help and spiritual encouragement to first responders, military personnel, and civic leaders. From chaplaincy and prayer to devotionals, appreciation meals, and support during crises and loss, this outreach strengthens those who carry the responsibility of caring for others.

Somebody Cares is closely monitoring Hurricane Isaias and connecting with partners in its projected path so we can respond quickly if needed. Please join us in praying for the storm to weaken rapidly, with no damage or loss of life. Ask the Lord to give peace and wisdom to everyone in its path as they prepare, and protection for families, communities, and first responders.

Isaias will bring storm surge, flooding rain and damaging winds near the Gulf Coast, then spread heavy rain inland this weekend. Here's the latest forecast.

Prayer is not a program; it’s a lifestyle!🔥

➡️ Rick Torrison shares how Doug Stringer taught him that prayer is less about how we pray and more about the heart we pray from and the One we pray to. From that relationship with God grows a heart of compassion for others.

Rick honors Doug as a faithful “watchman on the wall,” consistent in his message and his life, remaining at his post even through stage 4 cancer. His example reminds us that we don’t have to be the loudest voice in the room, but we must be present and ready to speak when God calls. As Rick reflects, Doug may not be the most well-known person in the room, but he is well-known in heaven.
