Correction is Love

We might see someone in our church living in sin and not acting according to the Word of God. We need to confront such a brother or sister about the behavior. The Scripture actually encourages us to do so. It tells us that if our fellow believer sins against us or in front of us, we are to confront such a person in the truth of God’s Word and with gentleness.

“Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him,”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Sinful Anger

“For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭37:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Two Steps to Knowing God’s Will
If you want to know God’s will, you need to do a couple of things:

1. Admit that you need guidance. We don’t really like to admit when we’re confused. Men especially don’t like to do this! It’s not in my nature to say, “Hey! I’m lost!” and stop and ask for directions. That’s why, when it comes to knowing God’s will, it takes some real courage to admit that we’re confused and need direction.

Psalm 25:9 says, “The meek will he guide in judgment: And the meek will he teach his way.” (KJV‬‬) If you’re arrogant and think you’ve got it all figured out, God’s going to say, “Be my guest. Go for it!” I’ve had people tell me, “I’ve been a Christian for 20 years, and I’ve never felt God guiding me.” My response? Maybe it’s because you’ve never admitted that you need it. You go to work assuming that you know what to do without praying about it. You make financial decisions all the time without praying about it. You make vacation plans without praying about them. You make career decisions without praying about it. If you’re single, you ask people out on a date without praying about it. You think you know, but you might want to stop and admit that you need guidance, because it’s the first step in getting God’s will for your life.

2. Ask God in faith for directions. The Bible says in James 1:5-6, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.” (KJV)

Notice there are two keys to knowing God’s wisdom. First, you’ve got to ask the right person: God. You don’t ask your manicurist, your bartender, or some other “reliable” authority like a radio talk show host. You have to ask the right person! Then you ask with the right attitude: expecting God to answer. Have you ever asked God to lead you, but you didn’t really expect him to? Sure you have. That’s why you never got anything from it. You must ask expecting an answer. God honors faith, and he promises wisdom for the next step of your life.

The Double-Minded Man

“A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

A double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways. A double-minded man is inconsistent in all of his ways. A double-minded man will always reap inconsistent results—in every area of his life. The man who is double-minded is void of stability and will never be satisfied. Lust will never be satisfied. Lust will never have enough. Lust is never quenched. Lust only grows.

Proverbs‬ ‭27:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” A double-minded man will surrender to God’s Word one day and then cling to the world’s way of doing things the next. Let go of the old way and choose Christ.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Choose Christ. Choose His way of doing things.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua‬ ‭24:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Serve Christ with your whole heart. Serve Christ in private and in public. Let lust go and choose life. Choose Christ.

Anointing Breaks Yokes

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” Isaiah‬ ‭10:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It does not matter what generational yoke has you bound—the anointing will break every generational bo***ge and pattern that has you enslaved in its grip. There is no yoke, bo***ge, habit, addiction, or chain that’s stronger than Christ.

Christ conquered sin and every aspect of it. Christ conquered lust—just for you. Christ destroyed every stronghold—just for you. Christ conquered addiction—just for you. He broke every generational cycle of sin. Sin has no power or authority over Christ.

Isaiah‬ ‭61:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, ”The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” Christ came to set the captives free. And from every emotional prison that has you trapped, Christ came to set you free. There is no bo***ge in Him. No habit can bind Him. Christ is greater than your struggle. Christ is greater than your stronghold.

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” If you are in Christ, you are a new creature. When you surrender your heart to Christ you belong to Him. When you repent and completely turn to Christ, you will be set free. Let God mold you into a new man. Let God create you into a new creature. Let God give you a new heart. Let Christ heal you from the inside out.

Lust in His Heart

Lust reveals a deeper heart issue. In fact, according to Matthew‬ ‭5:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬, lust starts in the heart. Before lust manifests, it first starts within the borders your heart. Jesus declares, in Matthew‬ ‭5:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬, “That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” The spirit of lust extends beyond a physical act.

Lust begins privately before it manifests publicly. Just because you have not acted upon the physical act does not mean that you have not committed adultery. Adultery starts within the borders of your heart. Adultery goes beyond physical connectivity and s*x.

Adultery can be committed emotionally.
Adultery can be committed spiritually.
Adultery can be committed mentally.

You can be emotionally tied to someone who has caught a hold of your heart. Your soul can be tied to someone who has intellectually stimulated and grasped a hold of your heart.

Who has your heart? What do you crave? Who do you crave? What void are you trying to fill? Who has caught your eye? Who has caught your heart? Who has caught your ear?

Choose to keep your hands clean and your heart pure.

Choose to focus on Christ.

Men & women, it’s not okay to look.

Proverbs‬ ‭6:27‬ ‭KJV declares, ““Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?”
‭‭
Lust lures.
Lust burns.
Lust is deceitful.
Lust is never satisfied.

Proverbs‬ ‭6:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.”

Lust is expensive and will cost you everything!

There is power in words. We can’t ever underestimate their weight. Words attract consequences.

The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18: 21)

Speak life. Speak the words of God.

06/17/2021

There is power in words and we can’t ever underestimate their power. Words attract consequences. The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18: 21)

Ask God to give you words that testify to His goodness and grace. Quote Scripture to yourself. There is power in God’s words.

Anchor yourself by using the best weapon possible – the Word of God.

In your conversations, speak life-giving, life-affirming words. Claim Who He is – the Healer, the Life Giver, the Father, the Almighty God.

Don’t be the Devil’s DJ — Speak life. Speak the words of God.

How does faith operate?

Faith begins where logic ends.

1 Corinthians 2:5 says that our faith does not “rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

Faith is based on who God is - His unchangeable character, His power and His Word. Faith is not based on our ability, our expertise or our acumen.

Abraham exemplified this “illogical” faith. Hebrews 11:8 says that, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”

Faith is about implicit trust and obedience in a God whose ways are far beyond our comprehension.

Faith will cause you do things which seem radical. It will cause you to look foolish. But, remember, such acts of faith propel the greatest breakthroughs.

Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

When your Faith is weak, remember these verses:

Trust in the Lord – You and I are called to have complete faith in God

Lean not on your own understanding - Let go of your logic

In all your ways acknowledge Him - Depend on God in everything you do

And He will make your paths straight - The consequence: God will provide a breakthrough .

One of the greatest obstacles of faith is human logic. It’s only when you let go of logic can faith operate fully.

We start removing habitual sin by recognizing the transformation that has indeed taken place within us as believers. This allows us to start choosing something other than sin as we consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. This is a reminder that in coming to Christ, the power of sin has been broken in our lives. Paul uses the metaphor of slavery to make this point. We were at one time slaves to sin, but now we are slaves to righteousness. The power of sin was broken at the cross and, in becoming Christians, we are set free from sin’s mastery over us. Therefore, we no longer sin out of the necessity of our original nature, but because we have willfully submitted to sin’s dominion.

At the same time, we recognize our need to rely on the power of God’s Holy Spirit, who dwells within us, to overcome habitual sin. The Christian’s struggle against sin is one in which our ability does not match our desire. That is why we need the power of the Holy Spirit. And we have power through that same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and who is now dwelling in us. The Holy Spirit, through God’s Word, is changing us as we submit ourselves to Him. This submission and being focused on God’s Word are what enable us to refuse the temptations of the flesh.

“So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4:7-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬
