Come by to see the flags that honor the 65+ Veterans laid to rest at Fairbanks Cemetery. The Daughters of the American Revolution Elisha Roberts Chapter presented a touching and beautiful service this past Saturday in honor of Veterans Day. The flags will remain through Thursday, 11/13/25.

📢Cemetery Update

🪦We’re proud to share that we’ve been hard at work expanding on our documentation of each unique soul entrusted to Fairbanks Cemetery. As part of our ongoing preservation work, we’ve also identified 63 veterans and are working hard to confirm their service details ahead of our Veterans Day celebration on Saturday, November 8th.

🌿 The fence clean-up—removing years of overgrowth, vines, and fallen branches—is nearly complete, and the transformation is truly encouraging. This clean-up gives us a better idea of our fencing needs.

💻We’ve launched a new website, www.fairbankscemetery.org, to serve as a home for cemetery information, history, and (soon!) a donation portal to support continued restoration efforts. This is a work in progress, so stay tuned and visit often.

If you have historical knowledge, photos, or information—especially regarding 🇺🇸veterans buried here—we’d love to hear from you. Every detail helps preserve and honor our shared past. 💙

Thank you for your continued support and interest in preserving this sacred space.

🪦Fairbanks Cemetery – Where Our Community’s Story Lives On

Did you know more than 750 souls rest here in Fairbanks Cemetery? These sacred grounds hold heroes, pioneers, and families who shaped the community we call home.

The oldest burial dates back to the 1800s, and among those here are military veterans, victims of the Galveston Flood of 1900, and even namesakes of the surrounding area. Every headstone tells a story—and together, they tell our story.

We’re working to preserve this history and keep these stories alive. Follow our page to learn more about the people, the history, and the events that make Fairbanks Cemetery such an important part of our heritage.

💬 Do you have family or friends here? A favorite story about the area? Share it in the comments! Let’s honor the past—together.

📣Announcement: This Saturday, August 16th approximately between 7 AM - 11 AM there will be clean-up activities occurring within the cemetery grounds. There may be heavy machinery present. If visiting please be aware of your surroundings and take precautions. ⚠️ Safety is each person’s responsibility.
