The 70 men and women of Saintly Stitchers are committed exclusively to creating beautiful stitchery for St. Martin's. Currently the Stitchers are well underway in our goal of covering each of the 287 pew kneelers in the church nave. The needlepoint on each tone-on-tone da

mask-like pew kneeler contains a different quotation from Scripture. These are chosen from the scenes illustrated in the nearest stained glass window, beginning with the great Nativity and Crucifixion windows. The Stitchers' and honorees' initials and the year the needlepoint was begun are discreetly stitched on the back edge of each kneeler. Additional current projects include needlepointing a kneeler for the Patron's Chapel and, with our sister stitchers in SCG, a wedding kneeler. The kneelers were dedicated at a special service of celebration on St. Martin's Day. November 11, 2012. At the reception following, ornaments brought from the GHW Bush Museum Library as well as scrapbooks and videos showing the rich history of the Saintly Stitchers were on display. It is hoped that others will be inspire others to join this group or to support the pew project by honoring a loved one with a kneeler. New members are welcome.
