As a little girl I remember this being one of my first real issues with the faith I was being taught. Why me and not them? Why was I full while others starved? Housed while others sought shelter? Surely there was no difference between them and me but the circumstances beyond our control. I never believed that a loving God would choose to send one person to a life of suffering over someone else.
