(A God Fearing Woman) Proverbs 31: 11-31
In Proverbs 31:10-31 we get to see what fear-informed wisdom looks like in the home. The fear of the Lord, which is a humble reverence for God, compels one to be trustworthy and hardworking and thrifty. And, while the wise woman possesses a “home first” attitude, that doesn’t mean “home only.” Meeting the needs of outsiders also gets attention.

As with Rosie, the lifestyles of God-fearing women don’t go unnoticed especially among those who live with them. It’s not surprising when those closest to them sing their praises. Want to be a God-fearing follower of Jesus? Why not ask God for His help? And don’t be surprised when those prayers are answered even in challenging circumstances.

Joshua 4:5-6 (KJV) And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel: That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?

(A Tribute to Remember) Joshua 4:1-8, 18-24, Deuteronomy 8:4
When after forty long years God’s people crossed into the promised land, Joshua chose a man from each of the twelve tribes to gather a stone from the dry riverbed to “serve as a sign among [them]. Joshua used these rocks to create an altar and lasting tribute to God’s power and provision. The Israelites’ journey hadn’t been easy. But God had been with them, providing water out of rocks, manna from the sky, and a pillar of cloud by day and of fire by night to guide them and clothes that never wore out! The memorial pointed to Him.

God does amazing things! As He provides, may we leave behind a lasting tribute to His love and power.

Matthew 7:25 (KJV) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

(Sure Foundation in Christ) Matthew 7:24-27, 1 Corinthians 3:11
Jesus’ story features two houses, each pummeled by rain, floods, and wind. But only one survived the storm: “because it had its foundation on the rock. Yes, storms happen in this life. Sickness and countless other dilemmas can leave us spinning. Life isn’t “stormproof,” but building our lives on Jesus and His teaching our sure “foundation makes the difference.

Those who refuse to embrace Christ are more vulnerable when life’s storms come. But those who listen to His words will find stability: “The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. Indeed, it’s all about our foundation.

(Zechariah, Father of John the Baptist)
He was a Jewish priest, husband of Elizabeth (a relative of Mary), and father of John the Baptist. While performing his priestly duties, he was visited by the angel Gabriel, who announced the birth of John the Baptist to him. Zechariah expressed disbelief at the news, which led Gabriel to strike him dumb, rendering him unable to speak until his son was born.

After John was born, God restored Zechariah's speech, and he uttered a prophetic prayer praising God for the coming of the new day and salvation for Israel. He was a priest and prophet during the period, contemporary with the prophet Haggai and Zerubbabel. He called the returned exiles in Jerusalem to spiritual renewal and repentance, challenging them to continue the work of rebuilding the temple and seeking God's promises.

He wrote the Book of Zechariah, which is filled with dream-visions and poetic prophecies. His book contains significant prophecies about the coming Messiah, the future reign of God's kingdom, and the humble king riding on a donkey. Jesus is seen by many as fulfilling Zechariah's prophecies, especially his prediction of a king who would bring peace and who would be rejected by His own people.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

(Access Through Christ)
Hebrews points out that a high priest was selected from among the Israelites, specifically one of Aaron’s descendants, and appointed as the go-between representing the people before God. He alone could enter the Most Holy Place in the temple once a year “to offer gifts and sacrifice” to atone for his and the people’s sins (5:1), for he too was a mortal man.

Then Christ came, our great and perfect high priest. When He died, the veil in the temple was torn and the barrier that existed between God and humanity was removed (Matthew 27:51).
Because our loving Redeemer has reconciled us to His Father, we can freely pray to God: “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

(Heman, the Ezrahite) 1 Chronicles 25:1-9
Heman the Ezrahite was a prominent Levite musician, prophet, and composer in King David's time, known for authoring Psalm 88. A grandson of the prophet Samuel and son of Joel, Heman was one of three principal musicians appointed by David to lead the temple's music and was called the "king's seer". The term "Ezrahite" may connect him to the tribal line of Zerah or signify his role as a founder of a musical tradition.

He was from the family of the Kohathites, a branch of the Levites, and a descendant of the controversial figure Korah. Heman was a skilled musician who led the worship music in the tabernacle, playing instruments like the harp and cymbals.

In 1 Chronicles 25:5, Heman is described as the "king's seer in the words of God," indicating his prophetic role in conveying divine guidance. According to the psalm's title, Heman the Ezrahite wrote Psalm 88, a lament expressing deep distress and a cry for help to God. God blessed Heman with fourteen sons and three daughters, who were also part of the temple choir, all serving God through music.

Ecclesiastes 5:13 (KJV) There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt.

Wealth is found to harm those who chase and hoard it (Ecclesiastes 5:10-15), leaving them eating in darkness, with great frustration
Our Father God has set eternity in the human heart (3:11), and life can only be enjoyed with Him (2:25).
Don’t seek spiritual fulfilment through wealth and power, but through the one who pours His love into our hearts (Romans 5:5).

Ephesians 4:1 (KJV) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

(Jesus' Work)
The apostle Paul says in his letter to the Ephesians, challenging believers to let who they were in Christ influence every decision: “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” (Ephesians 4:1). Paul challenges us to embrace a way of living shaped by Jesus’ work for us, in us, and through us, which yields humility, gentleness, patience, unity, love, and peace (vs 2-3) as we use our God-given gifts to serve one another (vs 15-16).

John 16:33 (KJV) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

(What God Will Do)
Jesus had spoken to His disciples about “the inevitability of peril so that when horrible things happened, they would not be scared because He was with them. Jesus told His friends, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). He wanted them to remain strong in their faith in His Father so they could withstand the trials and challenges they would endure.

We can find encouragement and hope in Jesus’ promises that He has overcome the world. We know that He won’t leave us (14:18) and will give us peace (v. 27), no matter what we face.

(Moses) Exodus 2
Moses's mother placed him in a basket in the Nile River to save him from Pharaoh's decree, leading to his adoption by Pharaoh's daughter. Moses, a prophet of Israel, was chosen by God to free his people from slavery in Egypt. Born to Israelite parents, he was placed in a basket in the river to escape a death sentence and was rescued by the Pharaoh’s daughter. After killing an Egyptian, he fled to Midian, married Zipporah, and became a shepherd. God called him to lead Israel. Moses led the people, received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, wrote the first five books of the Bible, and died on Mount Nebo, at the gates of Canaan.

(Rachel) Genesis 29:1-35
Rachel was Jacob's beloved younger cousin, sister to Leah, and one of the two wives of Jacob in the Old Testament. Jacob fell in love with her and worked 14 years to marry her, but her father, Laban, deceptively married Leah to Jacob first. Rachel was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, though she died giving birth to Benjamin.
Jacob met Rachel when he arrived at his uncle Laban's land, fleeing his brother Esau. He encountered Rachel by a well, helping her water her father's sheep.

Jacob fell deeply in love with Rachel and agreed to work for Laban for seven years to win her hand in marriage. After the seven years, Laban switched his daughters, giving the older sister, Leah, to Jacob instead of Rachel in the wedding ceremony. Jacob was tricked but continued to serve Laban for another seven years to marry Rachel.

Rachel was initially unable to have children, leading to intense jealousy and rivalry with her sister, Leah, who had several children.
In desperation, Rachel gave her servant, Bilhah, to Jacob, intending for any children to be considered her own. Bilhah bore two sons, Dan and Naphtali. God later answered Rachel's prayers, opening her womb, and she gave birth to Joseph.

(Job) 1:1-22, Job 42
Job lived in the land of Uz and was known as blameless, upright, and devoted to God. He was incredibly prosperous, with many servants, livestock, and a large family.
Satan challenged God, claiming Job's devotion was only because of his blessings. God permitted Satan to test Job, first by allowing him to lose all his possessions and his children. Despite these devastating losses, Job tore his clothes, shaved his head, and worshiped God, declaring, "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away," demonstrating unwavering faith.

Satan was allowed to inflict painful sores on Job, covering him from head to toe. His wife urged him to curse God and die, but Job rebuked her, maintaining his integrity. He was also abandoned by his friends and former associates. Job's three friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, came to comfort him but eventually argued that his suffering must be a punishment for some sin.

God eventually spoke to Job from a storm, challenging him to explain the mysteries of the universe Job humbled himself, admitting his ignorance and repenting in dust and ashes.
God was displeased with Job's friends and instructed them to offer sacrifices, with Job praying for them. God then restored Job's fortunes, giving him twice as much as he had before, and blessed him with a long life and more children.
