Vision Conference Jacksonville 2026

Afternoon Session – July 10, 2026

Speaker: Apostle Gordon ADA Osagiede
Conference Theme: Jesus All the Way!
Message: Make Jesus Your One Desire

Introduction

Every person is driven by desire. Our desires shape our decisions, determine our priorities, and ultimately direct the course of our lives. The challenge for every believer is not whether we will desire something, but whether Jesus Christ will become our greatest and highest desire.

Human desires constantly change, but Jesus never changes. When Christ becomes our one desire, every other desire finds its proper place.

Key Scriptures:

* Psalm 121:5–8
* Psalm 27:4
* James 4:13–14
* Philippians 3:8
* Revelation 4–5

⸻

I. Place Your Desire on a Firm Foundation

Psalm 121:5–8

Every believer must ask:

Who or what has my greatest affection?

Our desires often shift with circumstances, emotions, and seasons of life. However, Jesus remains the only unchanging foundation.

Key Lesson:
When Jesus becomes your greatest desire, your life is anchored on solid ground.

⸻

II. Making Jesus Your One Desire Requires Intentionality

Our hearts naturally produce many competing desires.

Choosing Jesus is not automatic—it is intentional.

* We must continually redirect our hearts toward Christ.
* As our love for Jesus grows, worldly desires lose their attraction.
* Spiritual maturity requires daily choices.

⸻

III. Learn from David’s One Desire

Psalm 27:4

David declared:

“One thing have I desired of the Lord…”

Although David had never physically seen God, he cultivated such a deep love for Him that he longed simply to behold His beauty.

His greatest desire was not success, power, or possessions—it was God’s presence.

⸻

IV. Guard Your Heart, Because Desires Can Become Idols

Whatever continually occupies your thoughts often becomes your altar.

Questions for reflection:

* What consumes my mind?
* Am I pursuing God—or merely what I want God to do for me?
* Has something replaced Christ as my greatest pursuit?

The enemy understands the power of desire.

Adam and Eve’s fall began with misplaced desire.

Unchecked desires become opportunities for deception.

⸻

V. Sit at Jesus’ Feet

The speaker emphasized that spending time in God’s presence protects the believer.

Just as advertisers constantly place images before us to shape our desires, believers must continually place Christ before their hearts through:

* Worship
* Prayer
* Scripture
* Fellowship with God

Whatever picture fills your heart will influence your life.

⸻

VI. Make Conscious Daily Choices

Following Christ requires intentional decisions every day.

If we fail to direct our desires toward God, the world and the enemy will gladly direct them for us.

A Christian must continually choose Christ above every competing affection.

⸻

VII. Do Not Build Your Life Around Temporary Things

James 4:13–14

Life is like a v***r.

Therefore:

* Do not attach your identity to possessions.
* Do not depend on temporary achievements.
* Do not lean on human wisdom.
* Do not depend on your own understanding.

Instead:

Place every desire into Jesus’ hands.

Only He is able to carry what we cannot.

⸻

VIII. Christ Is Our Greatest Wealth

Philippians 3:8

Paul considered everything else loss compared with knowing Christ.

True wealth is not found in possessions.

True wealth is Christ Himself.

To possess Christ is eternal gain.

⸻

IX. Live with Eternity in View

Revelation 4–5

Heaven is centered entirely upon Jesus.

Throughout eternity, God’s people will worship Him and gaze upon His holiness and glory.

If Jesus will be our focus forever, He should become our focus today.

⸻

Main Lessons

* Jesus must become our highest desire.
* Desires shape the direction of our lives.
* Spending time with Jesus transforms our hearts.
* Guard your desires because the enemy seeks to exploit them.
* Do not pursue God’s gifts more than God Himself.
* Earthly possessions are temporary.
* Christ is our greatest treasure.
* Make Jesus your daily pursuit and eternal focus.

⸻

Memorable Quotes from the Message

* “Make Jesus your one desire and you will be fine.”
* “Place your desire on solid ground.”
* “We are often in charge of our desires.”
* “What consumes your mind becomes your altar.”
* “People may grow tired of you, but God never grows tired of you.”
* “Christ is our wealth.”
* “To have Christ is gain.”
* “Let Jesus become your everything, because He truly is your everything.”

⸻

Conclusion

The Christian life is not centered on acquiring blessings but on knowing Christ. Every earthly desire fades, but Jesus remains forever. As believers intentionally pursue Him, every other desire is brought into proper perspective.

When Jesus becomes our greatest love, greatest treasure, and greatest pursuit, our lives become firmly rooted in what is eternal.

Closing Prayer

“Lord Jesus, I surrender every competing desire to You. Purify my heart and teach me to seek You above everything else. Let my greatest joy be found in Your presence. Help me to value You more than possessions, success, recognition, or comfort. Be my treasure, my strength, my purpose, and my one desire. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
