Prayer Bulletin July 31, 2024
This is the final prayer bulletin as the Pastor of Spring Woods. Almost 16 years ago I was asked when I came to the church in a view to be called as pastor, βWhat will our church look like in 5 years?β That was framed in the context of FBC Spring Branch, our mother church was striving to continue and were looking for an opportunity to join with other churches. I said that I did not know but the Lord knew and the Lord knows still. The Lord has glorified Himself. The Lord knows the plans He has and invites us to be a part of His plans to bless, sanctify, and glorify His people for His Kingdom's purposes. Our lives and others' lives have been changed.
We have had the opportunity to commune with the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit of God each Wednesday for the last 16 years. Prayer is one of my most enjoyable times that I spend in the lives of people. I am eternally grateful for every moment in time we have cried, trembled, celebrated, and confessed as well as so much more at the feet of our Lord, together. I have had the privilege to be a part of each challenge, celebration, need, victory, and glory as the Lord was taking action in the lives of each of us. The answers were not always what were wanted but what were needed. More importantly, the Lord led minds, hearts, and souls to unite with His plans to bless, reveal, and direct the faith of all. The Lord has been the author and finisher of our faith in these years. How often does anyone have the audacious joy to spend 16 years in the life of so many people? I am blessed beyond measure.
And yet even, as these moments are coming to a close it is just like the Lord to open windows of new opportunities and new challenges. We could ask the same question that was asked 16 years ago. However, knowing what we know gives us great reason for expectant hope, exceptional confidence, and exceedingly abundant glory. Why? Because the Lord has and knows the plans He has to bless us. He will continue to lead His people in the purpose, plans, and mission to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the lives of others who He is redeeming for His own possession.
I , therefore, a pastor of the Lord, pray you will walk worthy of the glory of the Lord to which you have been called and have been commissioned. Walk in humility and gentleness with patience with one another, bearing with one another in love and endeavoring to keep the unity of the Holy Spirit of God in peace. Finding your identity not in names, cultures, or movements but in none other than Jesus Christ who is our eternal hope, confidence and glory. In Jesus Name! Amen! (Ephesians 4)
