It's going to be a busy day today.

Our team is Kenya team has spent the last few hours on the Maasi Mara taking in some of God's creation at its finest. They will get a few hours of rest and then begin their long drive back to Narobi to then start their long journey home.

In the DR, our team has finished there time with Compassion. They will begin their journey to the airport this morning. They will be back home later tonight.

In Northern Ireland, Ed has made significant headway in the logistic planning and developing the necessary relationships for a continued emphasis there.

And in Mexico, after a day of tourism (and lunch in a cave), we will be going out for the 3rd clinic day.

Please be in prayer for all the logistics.

In the Dominican Republic, we will provide an update on our day in a second post, but for now, we would like to introduce our local translators for this week.

These individuals, some of whom volunteer at the center sponsored by Woodridge, some who work as independent contractors with expertise in language, education, and related fields that support Compassion's ministry, and still others who work in leadership positions with Compassion at their Dominican Republic National Office who set aside time to serve on this trip, have demonstrated a genuine passion for their work. Despite their tireless efforts last week with a professional football team and new trips coming up as soon as next week, they consistently exhibit a strong commitment to service for Christ's glory.

Their contributions have been invaluable, not only in helping with communication, but also in actively participating alongside our team in all our endeavors for this week. Please pray for these leaders, that they maintain their energy and passion for service, continue to grow in wisdom, take time for rest, and continue to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit as they serve with Compassion across the Dominican Republic to release children from poverty in Christ's name.

Today in Dominican Republic was filled with meaningful connections. We started the morning with a very competitive game of baseball – Woodridge team vs. the children. Much fun was had by all! We were all moved by the generosity to share their gloves and bats (and a pitcher) and their many bracelets, bows, hellos, hugs and smiles as we arrived at the field. They were also very gracious winners. 😉

We had a chance to share gifts with children whose sponsors sent items with us to share on their behalf and then headed to the church to have lunch with the Child Development Center (CDC) staff. After lunch we sat and visited with the CDC Director and administrative assistant about the center, the program, and how they implement through daily commitment, Compassion’s mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

We headed out on our next 3 home visits after lunch. These visits were so impactful and a testimony to Christ’s love for us all. We met one precious non-verbal child whose smile lights up the room today whose enrollment in the center brought his parents to the church, where they both accepted Christ and were baptized. Thank you, Woodridge, for supporting missions to share the love of Christ at home and around the world.

It's been a busy day in Mexico. Day 2 of clinics just wrapped up. 176 people in the clinic today. We got started late because of traffic and we had to finished early because of rain. But the Gospel was proclaimed and people were loved in Jesus' name. The man in the jacket is a brother in the Lord today because of what he experienced during the clinics today. There were others as well. God is so faithful.

Strap in, this is going to be a ride.

In our early morning hours, our Kenya team began working in a village, going hut to hut and just stopping and talking with folks they passed by, sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, the the Dominican Republic team was greeted with an "Opening Ceremony " to welcome them to the development center. We were blessed with 130 children for VBS, which was 60 more than anticipated, but God provided! It was a very full day of crafts, games, music and lessons. That was followed by time with sponsored children and their families in their homes where we ate lunch, visited and got to participate in household chores.

And then there is Mexico. First clinic day is complete. We ministered to 150 people with the love of Jesus Christ and basic eye care with Sight Ministries International. What a blessing it was to be with Pastor Martin.

Happy Sunday afternoon to you all.

While you slept, our team in Kenya completed their journey to Kisumu and attended a local church service and the served a meal. They are settling in for the evening and some much deserved rest.

Meanwhile in the Dominican Republic, our team arrived and attended a worship service at the local church there that hose the Compassion center. They are enjoying a day with the pastor and his family and those that serve at that church.

As if that isn't enough, please be in prayer for the team that is currently at the airport getting ready to board the plane for Mexico to work with Sight Ministries International. Please be praying for an easy transition into the county.

Lastly our Executive Pastor will be starting his journey to Northern Ireland early tomorrow morning.

Even though the Foster Closet is closed for a few more weeks, the needs haven’t stopped.
This week alone, the community has helped with several emergency placements — children coming into care with very little. Because of this amazing ministry, we’ve still been able to meet those needs and support the families welcoming them.
This is exactly why N.E. Houston Foster Closet does this. No child should have to walk into a new place with nothing and feel forgotten. If we can give them clothes, comfort items, and even just a small sense that someone cares, then it’s worth every bit of effort.
It is no surprise that in the middle of 2 days of emergency placement requests, a former recipient showed up with 2 of each item in their donation with the intention of blessing others as they had been blessed 2 years ago in the middle of their emergency placement of twins. To God be all the glory!
Thank you for helping us continue to love and support these kids.

Thank you, Woodridge, for your generosity!

While Scott was enjoying a much needed week of PTO, so much went on for the Glory of God right here at home. Early in the week we had a large donation of fabric dropped off that was passed along to our Women’s ministry sewing group. Between other projects, throughout the year, this group shares their extra resources and talents to bless many Woodridge ministry partners, including Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Sight Ministries International, Operation Christmas Child and CareNet. They also gift other ministries with their talents, like the beautiful gift bags that are filled and gifted by the Children’s ministry to Ball For All guests. This past week, MOSAIC’s work day was actually dedicated to assembling this year’s bags for WBC Children’s ministry.

This weekend we also continued to work on moving the N.E. Houston Foster Closet to its new location. We are so blessed to see the many donations that come in and go back out weekly through the closet, including a large donation of new pajamas and puzzles came in just recently. Although donations are now temporary on hold while volunteers work to move and reset the closet in its new location, orders are still being filled as volunteers are able. If you are interested in knowing more about how to serve with the Foster Closet, come join us this Sunday, March 1, right after church. We will have pizza and drinks. If you’d like to be included in the pizza lunch, let us know so we include you in the count.

On Wednesday, LIT students began projects for Operation Christmas Child. This week they made colorfully decorated bracelets for the girl’s boxes. These bracelets are a tangible expression of God's love and will become part of our church gift boxes which will go out to share the Good News of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Last year, WBC participated in 1500+ Gospel opportunities through OCC boxes. The LIT missions group will continue to work on projects throughout the year to add to this year’s boxes.

This week we also continued training meetings for our March missions trips. Our Dominican Republic team met a couple weeks ago and continues to prepare for their trip, including planning for a day of VBS with Compassion International where they’ll share about Jesus while getting to know their sponsored child and their family. Also this week, students met for evangelism training for their trip to Kenya and the Mexico team met for training on the many ins and outs of running eye clinics, while focusing on prayerful obedience to God’s plan for the week. Please join us in prayer as these teams work on the many preparations that go into these trips and for the churches and missionaries in Ireland, Kenya, Mexico and The Dominican Republic who are preparing to receive our teams. We will have a commissioning ceremony on March 8 at both services and will have the opportunity to pick up wristbands with the teams’ names on them so that Woodridge can partner in prayer during the upcoming weeks of missions for safety, changed lives, and in anticipation of much fruit.

Woodridge is such a faithfully giving, serving, and going church and it is a true blessing to see God work through the many, many hands each day. His provision is more than enough and we are thankful for another amazing week of service thanks to the hearts to serve and generosity of His people.

Thank you, Woodridge family, in joining us in His work for another wonderful week of missions work!
