HISTORY:

In 1951, several children started holding Sunday School classes on their own even though there was no minister. Halbrook, who had held Church services one Sunday a month in Clara, asked to come and preach. The Church for the first time had a pastor. He preached for about a year, and as a result of a Revival Meeting, conducted by Rev. Ha

lbrook in November of 1954, it was decided to organize a Baptist Church. On December 5, 1954, The Clara Missionary Baptist Church was organized with the assistance of twenty one other churches. Over the years, there have been many ministers at the church.

Sunday November 9th we will be packing our shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child. This is such a blessing and not only does it help children out around the world but gives you the opportunity to spread the word of Jesus to those that may not even know who Jesus is. Bring items to fill the boxes or just come join us in packing boxes right after church, we will also have soup, sandwiches, and fellowship right after.

Our annual Hayride on November 1 was a success. Joining us this year was the Christian church. Get Joe friend and Paul Murray together you just never know what kind of shenanigans you'll get into. We saw a sasquatch aka a hunter, lots of deer and some pretty country.

There will be a baby/diaper shower for Gracie Westbrook on Sunday, October 12. 2025 following church services. at approximately 12:30 A spaghetti dinner will be served.
Side dishes, desserts and drinks would be welcomed and appreciated.
The theme for this baby shower is diapers.

Update on VBS!! Correction- Dinner will be served rach evening at 5:30pm before Vbs starts at 6:00pm

Clara Baptist will have Vacation Bible School from July 14th through July 17th from 6-8pm. Dinner will be served each night.
If you would like to help, please feel free to come any night or all nights. There is always a way you can help
Vbs is a fun time every year and a great way for kids to learn about Jesus We are hoping for a large turnout this summer.

Clara Babtist will be having another baptism tomorrow, June 29th immediately following church services, which end spproxomately ay 12:00 noon The baptism will be at Dogs Bluff, off Highway 17 approximately 3 miles west of Houston. As always if you would like to be baptized come down to the river and talk to Pastor Paul about it. God Bless!

Tomorrow, June 15, 2025, Clara Baptist Church will be having a Baptism Day. Anyone who would like to be baptized can stop by Dog’s Bluff on Highway 17 west of Houston about 12:15. If you would like to come to Clara Baptist tomorrow morning, Sunday School is at 10:00 AM followed by church services from 11 to 12. We will go directly to Dog’s Bluff following church services. All are welcome!

Easter Sunday is April 20th. Please join us at Clara Baptist to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. After church there will be a dinner. Please bring whatever dish you’d like. There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt for all of the kids.

The VBS meeting is tonight, March 24th at 6pm. It will be at the Texas County Baptist Association office building on 17 E of Houston. This is when we learn about the theme for 2025 VBS. There are also classes for suggestions for fun things for the kids to do while learning about Jesus. I’m hoping that more people attend this, so everyone is up to speed and aware of the theme, and to get some ideas on how to plan your classes.
