On this Memorial Day, we share this prayer:

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping those who serve in our armed forces at home and abroad. As we remember this Memorial Day all those who sacrificed themselves for our nation’s ideals, defend with your heavenly grace all who risk themselves in these times; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

This Sunday the church universal celebrates Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples and, also, on us. We are now 50 days past Easter and we are ready to join with the Holy Spirit in spreading the good news: God is in our land.

We so hope you will worship with us Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5501 Main Street, Houston. In addition to our worship services, we will also begin a new Sunday School class, Pentecost People, created by the UMC Council of Bishops. If you aren't currently attending a Sunday School class, this is an ideal way to get involved. It will be at 10 a.m., in our Activity Center. This class will continue until mid-July.

Our Sunday schedule (rain or shine!)
8:30 and 11 a.m., Worship services, Rev. Dr. Jeff McDonald preaching
9:45 a.m., Sunday School

As a special treat, we will have Popsicles on the Plaza to celebrate Pentecost, the birthday of the church.

If you are traveling this weekend for the Memorial Day holiday, know you go with our prayers for a safe journey.

Our livestream is also available at www.stpaulshouston.org/stream

We want to make sure you've marked your calendars for 4 p.m. this Sunday as the St. Paul's United Methodist Church Choral Scholars present their end of year concert. The event will be followed by a reception at the church, 5501 Main Street, Houston.
