Advocacy is more than speaking for someone else.

It is listening first, learning humbly, and working alongside people until they can use their own voice with confidence and dignity.

That reflects the heart of God. He advocates for us—not to make us dependent, but to restore us and empower us to live as He created us to live.

As we serve across cultures, may we choose partnership over paternalism and empowerment over rescue.

"We advocate for others and learn and work with them to advocate for themselves because God advocates for us."- Advocating for Justice, Offutt, Bronkema, Murphy, Davis, Okesson

A small journal prompt changed the rhythm of our day. I asked, “Who here feels unseen?” and one member of our team wrote about a child who never joined activities. That reflection led us to stop planning crafts and instead spend an afternoon sitting with the church leaders-listening, sharing coffee, learning local rhythms. The insight turned into action: relationship before program, presence before product.

This journal isn’t just empty pages-it’s a guided loop from prompt to insight to adapted behavior. It helped our team practice cultural engagement and sustain impact by centering listening over busyness.

Freedom is often defined as having no limits, no obligations, and no one telling us what to do. Yet the way of Christ points us toward a different kind of freedom.
When we willingly set aside some of our preferences, comforts, and rights for the sake of loving God and serving others, we discover that sacrifice is not a loss—it is an expression of love.
In choosing generosity over self-interest, we become more fully who God created us to be.
How have you experienced freedom through serving others?

Celebrate Hope-Day by turning optimism into meaningful action. Gather friends, colleagues, or students for a short “Circle of Hope” conversation to discuss local challenges and imagine solutions. Dedicate an hour to service—mentor a young person, clean up a public space, check in on an elderly neighbor, or volunteer for a mental health helpline. Incorporate reflections on hope into lessons, meetings, or faith gatherings to spark ongoing dialogue. Every small gesture—whether a heartfelt conversation, an act of kindness, or a moment spent teaching—helps spread the spirit of hope that this day is meant to inspire in communities everywhere.

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and remember those who have worked to preserve them.
As many mission teams travel and serve around the world this summer, may we carry gratitude for our own country with humility, kindness, and a heart to learn from others. Loving our nation and respecting the people and cultures we encounter can go hand in hand.

From all of us at Just Kind Humility, have a safe and meaningful Fourth of July!

Justice. Mercy. Humility.
Three simple words. A lifelong calling.
At JustKindHumility, these values shape how we travel, serve, learn, and love. Effective service is not about what we accomplish for others—it is about joining God in ways that honor the dignity, strengths, and stories of every person we meet.
May we act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly wherever God leads.
