Some good news in a dark time! Thank you!
As the Thanksgiving season is colliding with our COVID era, I want to give a shout out to a special group of people who have been keeping their eyes upward on Christ and outward upon the needs of others. What makes this group of people even more special is that we are living in a time of uncertainty and confusion. Historically, it is easy for people to withdraw and become self-focused in seasons of chaos. But not this group…
During the COVID-era over 500 men from Houston’s First Baptist have invested over 4,000 volunteer hours serving more than 120 widows and single moms through Men:Serve and the Car Care Ministry. We have seen leaks repaired, lights fixed, siding replaced, fences put up, trees trimmed, oil changed, batteries replaced, and prayers prayed. Throughout it all we have maintained social distancing, worn facemasks, and moved our paper keeping onto a virtual format.
The end result has been much more than nails, paint, and oil…it has been encouragement, brotherhood, excitement and glory to Christ.
As we move toward gathering as families and recounting God’s goodness on November 26th, let’s not forget our spiritual family at Houston’s First who have experienced so much of God’s goodness as our men have served so faithfully under the radar of media fanfare and attention.
God bless the men of Houston's First Baptist Church!!!!
