The Center for Christian Spirituality

The Center for Christian Spirituality Many of us find the ways we’ve tried to connect with God just aren’t working, leaving us frustra And it’s OK.

At The Center for Christian Spirituality, we know many struggle to experience a deepening awareness of God that truly makes a difference in every part of their life. You may sense an uneasiness with your current ways of worship, prayer, and thinking about God. They don’t seem to work anymore and you’re not sure where to turn for help. This can leave you feeling like you’re missing something or eve

n like there is something wrong with you. Here at The Center, we know what it feels like when what you’ve been doing no longer works and you find yourself yearning for more. It’s actually a part of the spiritual journey, but one that you may not have been taught yet or given the tools to walk through before. For over 20 years, The Center has helped people like you access ancient and relevant teachings and tools that help you deepen your awareness of God, self, others, and creation. Here is how you can take the next step:

First, try Contemplative Worship with us on Sunday mornings where we craft the time and space for you to be still and quiet, gently guiding you to not just think about God, but become more receptive to the Beloved’s abiding, transforming presence. Second, share in the experience of a contemplative practice with others in our community at one of our regular gatherings, such as a Centering Prayer, a meditative walk, or simply sharing with another what you experienced in Contemplative Worship. Third, deepen your awareness of God by engaging in one of our courses, classes, or groups where we disclose more of the practical teachings and tools for the part of the spiritual journey you are on. You don’t have to feel disillusioned and alone in your spiritual journey. You can live a more present and compassionate life with a deepening awareness of Divine Love within and around you, transforming who you are with God, self, others, and the creation.

Registration is open for The Mirror of Simple Souls with Marguerite Porete: A Guided Silent Retreat in the Way of Divine Love

Join us on Saturday, June 13, 9am - 2pm for this guided silent retreat that invites participants into the luminous and daring spirituality of the French mystic Marguerite Porete, author of The Mirror of Simple Souls, who was condemned and burned at the stake in Paris on June 1, 1310 for her uncompromising witness to Divine Love.

Through extended silence, gentle guidance, and contemplative prayer, participants are invited into the way of divine love—a way marked by surrender, consent, and deep interior freedom.

Selected Thursdays 10:30am The Great Room, The Anchor House

Have you ever found your keys in the very place you’d already searched—again and again—only to realize your eyes had been told not to see?
Scripture can be like that. Words once alive with wonder can become so familiar that we no longer expect them to surprise us.

Lectio Divina offers a way to listen again—to return to sacred text with the openness of first hearing.

Each week, Peter and Zach guide a gentle rhythm of silence, Scripture, and improvised music for violin and piano. Within this quiet, gentle space, we reflect on the passage appointed for Sunday’s worship, trusting the Spirit to speak anew through word and sound alike.

We gather for about thirty minutes of prayer. Stillness, and reflection Those unable to attend in person are warmly invited to join online as the reflection is streamed live.

Come and rest where sound meets silence, and the Word speaks in the hush between notes.

Join us this Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm for Voices Ring: a Mini Concert of Memories

This informal concert in the sanctuary features the Contemplative Choir, who sing regularly in the 8:45 Contemplative Worship Service, and the Chancel Bells, who perform regularly in the Sanctuary.

This concert will feature performances of music that would fall out of the scope of Sunday Morning Worship, and gives the ensembles a chance to perform a variety of material.
