We’re incredibly excited to celebrate Pentecost Sunday. Our chamber choir, Credo, will offer “Veni, Sancte Spiritus” by Marques L. A. Garrett in all three services, with our Chancel Choir joining in the 11:00 service to offer “Raise Your Voices In Praise” by Ken Medema, all set against the backdrop of “Flames of Renewal,” a fabric art installation inspired by the work of Nancy Chinn.

Our Rotunda Gallery currently features art by Candis Smith in her second solo exhibit here at St. Luke's. Meet her in the Rotunda Gallery this Sunday, May 17 after the 9:45 Traditional Worship service, or visit the gallery any time during building hours to view her work, sign the guestbook, and perhaps find a piece of art for you or a loved one!

Candis has been fascinated all of her life with the fine arts, including painting and drawing. She studied at Tulane University in New Orleans where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art. After a career path that took her in and out of corporate America., she renewed her studies at the Glassell School of Art in Houston and the Chelsea Classical Studios in New York and maintains a studio in The Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston. Her art fulfills a personal need and represents her life’s journey, her style characterized by energetic brushwork applied in small, quick strokes capturing light and color from nature.

Did you know that what you see of the organ is just the tip of the iceberg? Have you ever wondered what all those buttons and keys on the organ console actually do? Or what the forest of nearly 5,000 pipes behind the façade actually looks like? Well, now is your chance to find out!

Throughout the month of May, we invite you to sign up for an up-close tour of St. Luke's Pillot Memorial Organ with St. Luke’s organist, Jim Roman, as your personal tour guide. All ages are welcome! Tours will begin in the Sanctuary and provide an opportunity to see the organ console up close, find out how an organist makes music, and even have a chance the play the organ yourself – no prior musical experience necessary! After that, you’ll go behind the façade and get a glimpse of the two-stories of pipes, ranging in size from the size of a pencil to the size of a telephone pole, that are normally hidden from public view.

We hope you’ll take advantage of this fun and unique opportunity to learn everything about the organ you never knew you wanted to know. Come curious!

May the Fourth felt like the right time to announce…

On October 9, 2026, St. Luke’s welcomes Roger Sayer for Interstellar 10, a one of a kind concert experience that brings the cosmos to life through the organ.

Hear Roger’s stunning solo arrangement of Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar score, plus iconic space inspired works including The Planets and “Also Sprach Zarathustra” from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Stick around after the performance for a special Q&A with Roger, where he’ll share stories from working with Hans Zimmer and recording the Interstellar soundtrack.
