We start the month in James 1:17a. Jesus’ brother, James, shares a bit of wisdom that reminds us how everything that’s good comes from God. It’s true! Everything good in our lives is because of God. And the best gift that God gives is Jesus. Because of what Jesus did for us, we can show God’s goodness to other.

Bethel Kids have been Powering Up all summer long and learning that the Holy Spirit can help us “raise our game” and live God's way. God wants us to live out different things like love, joy, peace, and patience, and it might not always be easy for us to do that on our own. That’s why we need to power up with the Holy Spirit. If you were in a video game, it would be like the Spirit was helping you power up or move on to the next level.

This Sunday we headed to Acts 5:17-42 where Luke records the trouble that Jesus’ disciples faced when they
started spreading the message of Jesus. No matter what happened to them, the Holy Spirit gave them what they needed to find joy, even when it was difficult.

God created us in His image, and He sent His Son, Jesus, to show us the way to live. He also knew we would need help; that’s why He sent us the Holy Spirit. With the power of the Spirit, we can produce fruit that points others to Jesus. Every month, kids discover something about God’s character and how they can reflect or respond to that character because
they are created in God’s image.

Bethel Kids started the month in Matthew 28:16-20 and Acts 1-2 as we listen in on the last conversation Jesus had with His disciples before going back to heaven. He
gave them a huge mission—to share His message
to ends of the earth. He also promised that they
wouldn’t have to do it alone. He would send the
Holy Spirit to help. When the Holy Spirit did come
at Pentecost, the Spirit gave the disciples power to
accomplish the task Jesus set out for them.

Yesterday we learned God is bigger than any question we might have. Jesus understood that Thomas wasn’t sure about what his friends had said. He knew that Thomas was scared and confused and took the time to answer his questions. In those moments when we’re just not sure, we can remember that it’s absolutely OK for us to think, ask, and wonder why.

Bethel Kids made these awesome glow in the dark light bulbs today to remind them of the hope they have in Jesus. This month we’ve learned that bad things can happen in life and although it will seem like we are surrounded by darkness it is the hope we have in Jesus and His love for us that dispels darkness and brings us into His marvelous light. :33
