Bee Creative 2026 is in full swing! We have had a wonderful start and everyone has fully embraced our theme this year which is Bee Kind! Kindness is flying all throughout the place and we're absolutely thrilled! While registration for the event is closed shopping with our vendors is completely open. Our days begin at 9am Friday and Saturday! So if you want to shop at our vendor's booths come on by, walk around, and buy things for friends, family, or yourself 😉!

National Donut Day is this Friday, June 5!
More than a century ago, the “Donut Lassies” entered WWI huts with hands full of flour, sugar, and the honest intention to lift the spirits of the soldiers who were far from home. Against all odds, that small act of kindness made a lasting difference.

On June 7, 1938, The Salvation Army first celebrated National Doughnut Day as a fundraiser during the Great Depression to support families facing hardship. It was a wonderful act that mirrored and honored the legacy of those courageous women.

Today, at The Salvation Army, we carry this purpose forward each day, meeting local needs with love and compassion through our food pantries 🍽️, food parcel services 📦, and mobile food pantries 🚚.

A simple recipe in action.

As we close out Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, The Salvation Army Texas would like to take this moment to thank all of our AAPI neighbors and community members who dedicate their time to serving our mission.

This includes our staff, volunteers, donors, and church members across Texas.

We are endlessly grateful for all of your meaningful service, and we can’t wait to see what we all do together in the year to come. ❤️

Bee Creative 2026 Update:

Registration is open again until Wednesday morning (June 3) or until our seating is filled (which is very limited at the moment).

Some classes may not be available at this point either. Be sure to contact the teachers (ASAP) of the following classes for availability: Tia, Tricia, and Kristen. The other classes will close on the site if they are full.

The free shirt that comes with registration is limited depending on what shirts we have left. So if you register from this point a shirt may not be available.

We want everyone to have an opportunity to craft and have fellowship with us.

Did you know that The Salvation Army’s summer camps have been around almost as long as The Salvation Army itself?

The first official summer camp was the “Fresh Air Camp” in Kansas City, and the oldest existing camp was established in 1901 in Camp Lake, Wisconsin.

The rest has been history, serving children across the nation and providing them a summer full of fresh air, sunshine, friendship, ministry, and character-building activities. ☀️

This is a Bee Quilt that will be up for auction at the 2026 Bee Creative Event (June 3 - June 6)! It has high detail and uses bees as the quilting stitch that fly between the hives. The back is a very soft black Minky fabric perfect for a cozy nap! It will be displayed for viewing until the end of the event. Don't let it get away and be sure to get your bid in before it goes!

Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the brave men and women who have lost their lives fighting for our country. At The Salvation Army Texas, every day we offer a number of support services for local veterans struggling to get by.

We forever recognize and commemorate the bravery of those who sacrifice their everyday lives and comforts for the greater good of America, and we strive to ensure that those who return home have the support and resources to build a thriving post-service future.
