Today is the feast of Mary, Our Lady Star of the Sea. This title dates back to the 4th century from St. Jerome, Doctor of the Church.

“The world is thy ship and not thy home.”
St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Hail Star of the Sea

Hail, O Star of the ocean,
God’s own Mother blest,
ever sinless Virgin,
gate of heav’nly rest.

Taking that sweet Ave,
which from Gabriel came,
peace confirm within us,
changing Eve’s name.

Break the sinners’ fetters,
make our blindness day,
chase all evils from us,
for all blessings pray.

Show thyself a Mother,
may the Word divine
born for us, thine Infant,
hear our prayers through thine.

Virgin all excelling,
mildest of the mild,
free from guilt, preserve us
meek and undefiled.

Keep our life all spotless,
make our way secure
till we find in Jesus,
joy for evermore.

Praise to God the Father,
honor to the Son,
in the Holy Spirit,
be the glory one. Amen.

Star of the Sea, gentle guide through the storms of life, light the way to your Son.

The nine first Wednesdays devotion includes on the first Wednesday of each month:
• attending Mass
• receiving Eucharist in a state of Grace
• nine days before or nine days after first Wednesday to have Sacramental Confession heard
• all with the intention of honoring the chaste heart of St. Joseph and for the salvation of the dying, especially for an undying sinner who is to lose his soul without the grace of final repentance

The prayers to be said are:

Prayer to St. Joseph
O blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ,
protector of your chaste spouse, the Virgin Mother of God,
I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate
and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life.
Therefore I humbly beseech you to receive me as your client,
to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction,
to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus,
and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph
O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the
throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do
assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine
Son all spiritual blessing through Jesus Christ, our Lord; so that having
engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my Thanksgiving
and Homage to the most Loving of Fathers.
O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms.
I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name
and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my
dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.

All for the Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,
All for the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary,
All in union with St. Joseph.

+++

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, assist me in my last agony.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with you.
Amen

O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen.

Prayer for Protection against Storms and Hurricanes

Our Father in Heaven through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, spare us during this Hurricane season from all harm. Protect us and our homes from all disasters of nature. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to Avert Storms and Hurricanes

Father, all the elements of nature obey your command. Calm the storms and hurricanes that threaten us and turn our fear of your power into praise of your goodness. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Happy Feast Day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

Oh, Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future! From famine and war, deliver us.From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us.From sins against the life of man from its very beginning, deliver us.From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us.From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us.From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us.From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us, deliver us.Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies.Let there be revealed once more in the history of the world the infinite power of merciful Love. May it put a stop to evil. May it transform consciences. May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of hope! Amen.
Prayer of Pope Saint John Paul II

Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Start your First Friday Devotion today!

Promises Given to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque for those devoted to the Sacred Heart:

I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.

I will give peace in their families.

I will console them in all their troubles.

I will be their refuge in life and especially in death.

I will abundantly bless all their undertakings.

Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.

Tepid souls shall become fervent.

Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.

I will bless those places wherein the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.

I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.

Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in my Heart.

In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the first Friday, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.

O Sweetest Heart of Jesus, I implore that I may ever love Thee more and more.

Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.

Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.

May the heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be blessed, adored, and loved with grateful affection at every moment in all the Tabernacles of the world even to the end of time. Amen
