Happy Father's Day to and from the men and families of Kainos Community Church.

The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him (Proverbs 20:7).

Grandchildren are the crown of old men, and the glory of sons is their fathers (Proverbs 17:6).

Our beloved sister-in-Christ, Carol Stacey Broussard, made her transition from this life to the next one. She faithfully joined the prayer call over the last year where she brightened each of our days with her presence. She was great friend to Claudette and our entire church family. She will be greatly missed. Prayers for bereaved family and friends are requested during this time. We thank God for the comfort we have received, so we can comfort one another (2 Cor 1:3-4).

On January 1, 1863, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring enslaved people in Confederate states to be free. Yet in Texas, many enslaved African Americans remained in bo***ge for more than two additional years. On June 19, 1865, Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and announced General Order No. 3, informing enslaved people that they were free. What does Juneteenth teach us about our freedom in Christ? Let’s search Luke 4:18-21; Galatians 5:1 to see. There was an “Emancipation Proclamation” of sorts that took place in the Bible. This process involved setting someone free from one or more restrictions (legal, social, political, spiritual). The first proclamation was made by the Prophet Isaiah in Chapter 61 of the book named after him around 700 to 800 years B.C. It was a fresh word of hope and restoration for a heartbroken, disappointed and traumatized people when they returned from exile only to find destruction. That proclamation was fulfilled many moons later through Jesus Christ but did not come without resistance. The aftermath of this freedom, and resistance to it, is a struggle that can only be overcome by standing firm and living a life guided by the Spirit, according to Paul.
