This was my response to a recent post regarding Doug Wilson:

Over the 50+ years in our spiritual journey there have been several critical watershed moments and events where God has said, “run hard, run fast and don’t look back. In the early 80’s it was the Bill Gothard Institute, we didn’t understand - we just ran. Now we understand. Moving away from a certain denominational structure was an unmistakeable directive to go! We didn’t understand - now we do. Stepping away from a toxic prophetic culture (NAR) was an imperative we could not ignore. We didn’t fully understand then - we understand now. To my brothers and sisters in Christ I lovingly but firmly encourage you to run hard, run fast from the Doug Wilson universe and do not look back. You might not understand now - but you will. Run to His Grace, run to the Word of God and the God of the Word. You might not fully understand right now - but you will. We don’t obey when we understand - we obey until we understand.

Rightness without Righteousness produces spiritual schizophrenia. One is born of fear and control and must be earned, the other is born of faith and surrender and can only be received. One brings division and striving the other brings peace and rest. One punishes the other restores.

According to Old Testament law, a woman caught in adultery was meant to be dealt with through capital punishment, specifically stoning, along with the man involved. Levitical law (Leviticus 20:10) and Deuteronomy 22:22-24 mandated death for both parties to remove the evil from Israel.

“they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”]]”
