Tonight is the 20th of Safar, which marks the Anniversary of the 40th day of the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) known as the Day of Arbaeen. Our deepest condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (Ajtfs) and the believers on the 40th day of the Martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs Imam Hussain (AS).


Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) is reported to have said:

“One of the signs of a believer is the pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (AS) on Arbaeen”
(Shaykh al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 98, p. 106)

Insha Allah we will have a special program on Saturday, September 9th commemorating the Day of Arbaeen starting at 7:00 pm in both in-person and online formats.

Tonight is the 25th of Rajab and our deepest condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (AS) and the believers on the Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS). Insha Allah we will have a special program today, February 15th starting at 7:00 pm in online format ONLY.

Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS) is reported to have said:

"لَوْ كَانَ فِيكُمْ عِدَّةُ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ لَقَامَ قَائِمُنَا"

“If there were among you (for us only) the same number of the supporters of the Battle of Badr, surely our Qa'im (Mahdi) would have risen.”
(Mishkat al-Anwar, P. 128)​

Al-Salamu Alaykum,

Tonight is the 10th of Rajab and many congratulations to Imam al-Mahdi (AS) and the Believers on the Birth Anniversary of Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (AS), the son of Imam Ali al-Reza (AS). He is also known as Imam Muhammad al-Thani (the second). Scientific debates of Imam al-Jawad (AS) in his childhood age with religious scholars of different Islamic sects in theological issues are among well-known debates of Imams (AS).

When Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (AS) was born, and they brought him to his father; Imam Ali al-Reza (AS) is reported to have said:

"هَذَا الْمَوْلُودُ الَّذِی لَمْ یُولَدْ فِی الْإِسْلَامِ أَعْظَمُ بَرَکَهً مِنْهُ"

“This is a child, more blessed than him is not born in Islam.”
(Shaykh al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, v. 50, p. 20)​

Al-Salamu Alaykum,

There will be a total lunar eclipse which will be visible over North America beginning early on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 wherein Salat al-Ayaat is obligatory (wajib). For more details about the lunar eclipse and the time it will occur in your respective area, please click below:

Upon Sayyid Sistani's opinion, the time for the Salaat al-Ayaat is from Tuesday, November 8th at 3:09 am CT (Partial Eclipse begins) until Tuesday, November 8th at 6:48 am CT (Moonset) for the believers in Houston area. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Religious obligation:

During a solar or lunar eclipse, it is obligatory (wajib) to perform a special prayer called Salat al-Ayaat. The prayer becomes wajib even if the moon or the sun are partially eclipsed, and even if they do not engender any fear.

How to perform the prayer of “al-Ayaat", a two unit (Rakah) prayer with five Ruku in each unit:

1. Make the intention (Niyyah) of offering the prayers as “Salat al-Ayaat”.
2. One should say Takbir: “Allahu Akbar”
3. Recite Surat al-Fatiha and any other Surah*
4. Then perform Ruku.
5. After Ruku, then stand and recite Surat al-Fatiha and any other Surah and then perform another Ruku.
6. One should repeat this action (steps 3 & 4) five times, and when one stands after the fifth Ruku, one should then proceed to perform the two Sajdah (as in the normal Fajr prayer). Then stand up to perform the second Rakah in the same manner as was done in the first Rakah (with the five Ruku).
7. After performing the second set of Sajdah, one should recite Tashahhud and end the prayer with Salam to complete it.

*Please note that a person is allowed to say Takbir and recite Surat al-Fatiha and then divide the verses of another Surah into five parts, and recite one verse or more or less, and thereafter perform the Ruku. One should then stand up and recite another part of the Surah (without reciting Surat al-Fatiha) and then perform another Ruku. This should be repeated and the Surah must be finished before performing the fifth Ruku. Tonight is the 17th of Rabi al-Awwal and many congratulations to Imam al-Mahdi (AS) and the Believers on the Birth Anniversary of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS).

Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) is reported to have said:

ا"أَثْقَلُ مَا یُوضَعُ فِی الْمِیزَانِ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَةِ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَهْلِ بَیْتِهِ."ا

“The heaviest deed upon the scale of deeds on the Day of Judgement is sending Salawaat to Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) and his household (i.e., Ahl al-Bayt)”
(Shaykh al-Aameli, Wasa'il al-Shi'a, V. 7, P. 197)

Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) is reported to have said:

" خَيْرُ إِخْوَانِكَ مَنْ نَسِيَ ذَنْبَكَ وَ ذَكَرَ إِحْسَانَكَ إِلَيْهِ"

“The best among your brothers [in faith] is he who forgets your wrongdoing [against him] and remembers your beneficence to him.”
