First Congregational Church of Houston, UCC An oasis of progressive Christianity. First Congregational Church is an assortment of seekers and thinkers. We hope you can find a home here as well!

We gather together to worship God (defined in many ways), to love others, to build community, to advocate for justice, and to explore what it means to be Christian in the 21st century. From the very beginning the members of First Congregational declared themselves to be an “open church,” that is a church open to all races and people, which was a radical idea for Houston, at the time that First Con

gregational was founded in 1955. In 1998, the church took a stand to be “Open and Affirming”, proudly welcoming all people regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

We at FCC are grateful to our Youth CE Board for creating meaningful programs and events that encourage our young people to grow in faith and community. There was something for everyone, including a youth message, music, tea, conversation, and a youth tie-dye session, while adults attended a "getting to know you" time with our incoming pastor, Rev. Another year another project at Tony’s Place in Houston. FCC Congregants volunteered on a Saturday to assist and organize the donations received. Tony’s Place provides a diverse set of services to meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ youth ages 14 to 25. Many of these youth are homeless or lack family support.
