This past Sunday, our guest priest, the Rev. Andrew Terry, Area Missioner for The Episcopal Diocese of Texas, reminded us that Jesus does not call us to live solely for self-preservation. He calls us to offer ourselves—our time, our gifts, our compassion and our courage—in loving service to others.

Offering ourselves does not mean allowing others to diminish us or remaining in harmful situations. It means caring unselfishly for vulnerable people, standing tall for what is right and building genuine relationships that help others see where Christ is already at work.

Rev. Terry left us with a powerful question: If St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church were no longer here at the corner of West Road and Queenston, would our neighbors miss us?

May that question remain with us. We are called not simply to gather inside the church, but to carry Christ’s love into Cypress—one conversation, one relationship, one partnership and one act of service at a time.

🚌 St. Cuthbert Seniors are hitting the road for a special September outing! 🤩

Join us Monday, September 14, for a visit to Mosaic Episcopal Church in Pearland, where we’ll meet the Rev. Joseph Yoo and learn more about his active, accessible ministry.

The bus departs the St. Cuthbert parking lot at 8:30 a.m. There is no cost for transportation or the church visit; attendees will purchase their own lunch afterward. 🥙

🎙️ What a gift it was to welcome the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ellis to Cuthbert Conversations today! 🙏❤️

We are incredibly grateful to Fr. Malcolm for joining Fr. Sunil for Episode 10 and sharing the wisdom, stories and perspective that come from more than 50 years of faithful ministry.

For the St. Cuthbert family, this conversation was especially meaningful. Fr. Malcolm is no stranger to our parish. From 2022–2025, he faithfully served St. Cuthbert as our Interim Rector, walking alongside our congregation through an important season of transition and leaving a lasting mark on so many within our church family.

During today’s conversation, Fr. Sunil and Fr. Malcolm turned their attention to Matthew 18:15–20, the Gospel appointed for this coming Sunday. Its message about relationships, conflict, reconciliation and life together in Christian community opened the door to a particularly meaningful discussion—one that connected deeply with Fr. Malcolm’s experiences throughout more than five decades of ministry.

How do we respond when relationships become difficult? What does faithful reconciliation actually look like? And what has a lifetime spent serving churches and walking alongside people taught Fr. Malcolm about putting Christ’s words into practice?

It’s a conversation that offers plenty to reflect on as we prepare our hearts for worship this Sunday.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Malcolm for returning to St. Cuthbert and sharing his time, experiences and wisdom with us. We are so thankful for the opportunity this podcast continues to give our church community and beyond to explore faith, meaning, purpose and life together.

🏠🌶️ What a joyful Homecoming Sunday at St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church!

Our Ministry Chili Cook-Off and Ministry Showcase was a resounding success, filled with delicious chili, creative booths, laughter, fellowship and the wonderful energy of our church family coming together. Most importantly, it gave us an opportunity to celebrate the incredible ministries that make St. Cuthbert such a vibrant and welcoming community. ❤️

A heartfelt thank-you to every ministry that participated and to all the volunteers who cooked, decorated, served, welcomed guests and shared the many ways people can connect and serve at St. Cuthbert. We are also deeply grateful to all of our clergy for their encouragement, support and faithful leadership—and to the Rev. Andrew Terry, Area Missioner for The Episcopal Diocese of Texas, for joining us as our guest preacher on this special Sunday.

Sunday’s baptisms gave us more than a beautiful moment to celebrate—they offered a reminder of what it means to belong to Christ and to live out that promise long after the service has ended.

Baptism reminds us that our identity does not rest in being perfect or having everything figured out. It rests in God’s grace and the promise that we belong to Christ—forever. It also reminds us that faith was never meant to be lived alone. We are called to be the kind of church that prays for one another, walks beside one another through hardship and shares in one another’s joy.

The church belongs to Jesus, and He is still building it—not only through moments at the baptismal font, but through the way we love, serve, forgive and show up for one another each day.

In this thoughtful conversation, Fr. Sunil sits down with the Rev. Andrew Terry to talk about faith, purpose, community and the relationships that help congregations flourish.

Andrew lives in Cypress with his wife, Tiffany, and their son, Langston. Along with volunteering at his son’s school and serving on Cypress-Fairbanks ISD District Safety and Security Committee, he has spent the past six years serving on diocesan staff as an area missioner. In that role, he supports congregations as they build meaningful relationships and partnerships within their local communities.

Our heartfelt thanks to Andrew for sharing his time, experiences and perspective with us—and to Fr. Sunil for another meaningful conversation.
