Building on What’s Left

Sometimes life will shake everything you thought was secure. Dreams can fall apart, relationships can shift, finances can change, and confidence can take a hit. But God has never needed “everything” to create something meaningful. Throughout scripture, He consistently used what was left over, what looked broken, and what others counted out. The Book of Joel reminds us in Joel 2:25 that God can restore “the years that the locust hath eaten.” That means your loss is not the end of your story. What remains in your hands may not look like much right now, but with God, what’s left is enough to rebuild, recover, and rise again. Sometimes recovery doesn’t start with abundance; it starts with faithfulness over the fragments.

Do not spend so much time mourning what is gone that you miss what God is still growing. The enemy wants you to believe the damage disqualified you, but God specializes in restoration. Every setback can become a foundation for a stronger comeback when you keep moving with faith. Build with your remaining strength. Build with your remaining faith. Build with your remaining hope. God can breathe life into what feels empty and give purpose to what survived the storm. Keep going, keep trusting, and keep rebuilding piece by piece because this season will not destroy you. You will recover from this.

Before I Crash Out (Sermon Recap)
Psalm 4:4

Psalm 4:4 gives a direct warning and a strategy: “Be angry, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.” Anger itself isn’t the sin—it’s what you do with it. If you don’t check it, it will check you. “Crashing out” is what happens when emotion overrides wisdom. The text teaches restraint before reaction—pause, reflect, and bring your emotions under control before they push you into decisions you can’t undo.

The discipline is in the pause. Instead of reacting in the moment, God calls us to step back, get quiet, and examine what’s really going on inside. Anger unmanaged will damage relationships, cloud judgment, and pull you out of alignment with God’s will. But controlled anger can be redirected into growth, clarity, and righteous action. The goal isn’t to suppress it—it’s to master it before it masters you.

I Did It Scared

Doubt is quiet, but it’s dangerous—it chips away at your confidence, delays your steps, and convinces you to second-guess what you were already called to do. If you wait until you feel completely ready, you’ll be waiting forever. Growth doesn’t come from comfort; it comes from movement, even when your hands are shaking and your mind is unsure. The truth is, doubt doesn’t mean you’re unqualified—it just means you’re stepping into something bigger than what you’re used to.

There will be moments when not only you question your ability, but others will too. Don’t let that stop you. God already placed something inside you that’s greater than their opinions and stronger than your fear. He doesn’t call the ready—He prepares the called. So move anyway. Speak anyway. Build anyway. Even if your voice trembles and your steps feel uncertain, take them. Because sometimes the greatest victories come from the moments you decided, “I did it scared.”

God’s timing is not rushed, delayed, or accidental—it is precise and purposeful, even when it doesn’t match our expectations. Scripture reminds us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). That means what feels like waiting is often God working behind the scenes, aligning people, strengthening your character, and preparing outcomes you couldn’t arrange on your own. We tend to measure time by comfort and convenience, but God measures it by readiness and purpose. What you’re waiting on isn’t just about the destination—it’s about who you’re becoming in the process.

You can trust God’s timing for three solid reasons. First, God sees the full picture while we only see fragments, so His delays are often protection or preparation. Second, His promises are consistent—“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise… but is patient with you” (2 Peter 3:9)—which means waiting is never wasted when He’s involved. Third, His timing produces lasting results, not rushed outcomes that fall apart. When you start to accept that truth, patience becomes less about frustration and more about faith, knowing that what God brings together at the right time will always be worth the wait.

What feels like a loss today can quietly become the foundation of your next victory. Some setbacks aren’t there to stop you—they’re there to reshape you, to strip away what can’t carry you where you’re meant to go. Scripture reminds us in Romans 8:28 that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” That means even the moments that sting, the doors that close, and the plans that fall apart are not wasted. They are being woven into something meaningful, even if you can’t see it yet.

It’s easy to measure life by what you’ve lost, but faith challenges you to measure it by what God is building. A loss can teach endurance, sharpen wisdom, and strengthen your trust in ways a win never could. As 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” You’re still standing—and that matters more than you realize. Stay steady, keep moving forward, and don’t rush the process. What looks like a loss right now may turn out to be the very thing that positions you for a greater win.

🚨Long Post Alert🚨

Can I Sit In the Front?

As a parent, many of us have experienced the old race to the front seat by our children. Whenever it's just my kids and I, they race to the door and to the car asking, "Daddy, can I sit in the front?". Often times stumbling over one another and arguing simply to sit where I haven't invited them. There are even times where they display attitudes as if they're entitled to this place and space. Many times with my twins, my daughter, who is "2 minutes older" than her brother, tries to use her "seniority" in age as her premise for sitting in the front.

In Luke 14:7-11, we see Jesus teaching on humility. At the feast there is this race to sit in the places of honor, the front. People are racing to be seen before they've been invited. Jesus, being the great teacher that he is, takes this moment to impart wisdom to all of us. Jesus basically says while you're running to place yourself in the front, have you been invited there? And what if someone more distinguished than yourself arrives, shouldn't they have that seat. For many of us, we're so important to ourselves that humility has departed our hearts. We must be in the front seat, and everyone needs to know how important we are. Jesus reminds us that humility is important because a lack of humility will soon humilate you v.9.

My prayer for us is that we'll remain or return to humble hearts that God will exhalt in his timing. You and I don't need a front seat at the Lord's table, but we should be glad that we're invited to it. v.9-11.

Be blessed!
Pastor Eric
