Today our CORe Youth had a great time giving back to the community by delivering meals to individuals via Meals on Wheels with Northwest Assistance Ministries, as well as serving meals in the Young At Heart Senior Center!

They delivered/served over 25 meals today!! 🍛

Acts 20:35 NLT
[35] And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

I firmly believe in the efficacy of prayer and the significance of spiritual practices in my life. Moreover, I am convinced that no challenge is insurmountable for God.

However, my faith also compels me to seek healing for my physical body through medication and to prioritize my mental well-being by accessing professional services when necessary, trusting in God's ability to grant me perfect peace. I also acknowledge that not every issue stems from demonic origins, and discernment is essential.

Statistics from the Houston mental health landscape reveal a concerning prevalence of distress, illness, and rising su***de rates, alongside inadequate access to care. In response, this mini conference aims to educate, foster a supportive community, and alleviate stigma, particularly among black men, to bridge the existing gaps in mental health care. Although the sessions are tailored to address the specific needs of black men, all men are welcome to participate. The focus on black men stems from the observation that our demographic often lets stigma deter us from seeking help due to societal expectations of stoicism. I invite you to join us, as your presence may enable you to support someone in need. Please register by scanning the QR Code.

NAMI Greater Houston is proud to support the Black Men & Mental Health Houston Mini Awareness Conference on June 27, 2026.

This important community event will bring together local leaders, mental health professionals, faith partners, and advocates for a meaningful conversation around healing, strength, liberation, and culturally grounded support for Black men’s mental health.

While this event is not hosted by NAMI Greater Houston, we are grateful to partner in the effort and will be present to share information about NAMI programs, resources, and support available to individuals and families in our community.

Join us for a day of awareness, education, and connection as we work together to reduce stigma, strengthen support systems, and build a healthier mental health ecosystem.
