Selama 3 (tiga) hari, CIDY-2018 akan membahas berbagai topik lokal, nasional dan global, antara lain: (1) "Visi Indonesia 2045" (2) Ke-Indonesiaan and Identitas (3) Education, skills and the future of jobs (4) Climate change and sustainable development (5) Culture and Indonesian Heritage (6) Tolerance and Multiculturalism; (7) Gender equality (8) Enterpreneurship (9) How we can end corruption for our time (10) Disruption, Innovation, Science dan Teknologi, (11) Radikalisme/Ekstremisme/Terorisme, (12) Democracy and human rights (13) "What the millennials want” (14) "The state of the world"; (15) "Local lessons for us all"; (16) “Menghadapi revolusi industri 4.0”; dan lain-lain.

Assalamualaikum warrahmatulahi wabarakatuhu

Alhamdulillah, this has been a very successful Zakat month for our community. Therefore, on behalf of Indonesian BaitulMaal (IBM) and Indonesian America Moslem Community (IAMC), we would like to thank you for your generous and kind donation during this Holy Month, the Month of Ramadan. Because of your generousity, we have successfully collected in total of $ 48,532.63 donation.

We have distributed all Zakat Fitr to the needy family. Most of the Zakat Fitr (60%) were distributed locally here in Houston; The Zakat has been given to our Brother and Sister from our own community. Some other portion were also distributed to poor family in Indonesia (thru Baznas - Badan Zakat Nasional) & Somalia (40%). Food & Toy Drive was successfully completed and delivered to Burmese Refugee Family in Masjid Hawa; which was held on June 11th; This program was initiated & executed by our Youth (Indonesian North America Moslem Youth/INAMY).

Big appreciation to our Youth & their Parent for their hard work and tremendous support for the program. In total of 136 food grocery packages & couple boxes of toys were shared to these family. Some portion of the money was also used to purchase furnitures and some basic needs (e.g. kitchen kits, bathroom kits, towel, medicines, & etc) for newly arrived Afghan/Syrian refugees.

Meanwhile, your Zakat Maal will be distributed to our several key programs; similar to last year:

a. Mualaf Education program:
To provide scholarship to prospective youth Mualaf, so they can have access to credible Islamic education in respected Islamic institution. So far, we have supported 2 Mualaf students to Indonesia Quranic Institute, Jakarta. This year, the plan is to expand our scholarship program up to 4 students.

b. Our Moslem community social program: some portion of the Zakat Maal was also used to support needy family from our local Moslem Community this year; some families in Houston and also North America. This month Ramadhan, we have managed to financially support 4 Moslem families (some are in serious debt or in some other form of difficulties).

c. Da’wah to Latinos thru Multimedia progrfam: This program is to financially support activities of Islamic education in Spanish (Mualaf) community; this MoU with Spanish community has been in-place for few years already.

d. Refugee program in Houston:
To continue provide financial support to our Burmese refugees education program. May Allah SWT rewards and bless our community with much of Blessing.

This year Indonesia Focus is designed to provide an opportunity for Indonesian and international scholars and professionals across disciplines to present their innovative research projects in the fields of art, science, and technology as well as business plan that can be useful to support Indonesian development. Specifically, the conference is intended to invite more Indonesian scholars to come to the US.

We believe this small step can provide an excellent experience for them to share their ideas or innovations in an international forum. In addition, we want to provide more opportunity for international scholars to learn about the Indonesian culture. The PERMIAS Greater Lansing will also perform a cultural program called as Indonesian Culture Night. This program will invite the US residents to enjoy Indonesian cultural heritages (e.g., dances, fashions, songs) and more importantly Indonesian cuisine.

Conference Objectives

This conference aims to gather Indonesian and international scholars and professionals across disciplines to share their ideas and proposed actions in the field of the arts and humanities, natural and social science, as well as technology to accelerate Indonesian development.

Indonesia Focus 2012 has the following objectives:
Provide an opportunity for Indonesian scholars to share their ideas in an international setting and publish their works in international media.
Explore ideas and business plans than can contribute to the acceleration of Indonesian development.
Strengthen Indonesia-US partnership through US-Indonesian universities collaboration.
Promote Indonesian culture to broader international aud.ience

The conference invites individuals or organizations to present papers and business plans on the basis of research that address topics within the theme of supporting Indonesia’s development. The papers should address some issues pertaining to the multidimensional aspects of Indonesia’s development, such as food, water, energy, and human welfare to name a few, and can include a wide variety of topics within the fields of arts and humanities, natural and social science, and technology. Topics surrounding innovative strategies and methods that can contribute to the improvement of Indonesia-US relationships and Indonesian education system are highly encouraged.

The conference provides a forum where broad ideas of how to help Indonesia fare well in the globalized economy are exchanged and discussed. It is expected that the meeting would inspire attendees with regard to the potential roles they may want to play in this globalized world. The conference also provides a forum for entrepreneurs to showcase their business ideas, plans, and products to Indonesian and international audience. We hope that the meeting would motivate, and even initiate further business cooperation among Indonesians, Americans, and international participants.
