Imagine for a moment that every person in the world wrote all their problems on a piece of paper. Financial burdens. Broken marriages. Cancer. The loss of a child. Addiction. Depression. Loneliness. Fear. Regret. Then every piece of paper was folded up and thrown into one giant hat.
Now imagine if you had the opportunity to change problems by just reaching in that hat and taking someone else’s paper.
Would you?
Probably not. We would all keep our own problems.
The truth is, we often look at other people’s lives and think they have it easier. Social media mostly shows the highlights, rarely the heartaches.
Behind every smile is a story. Behind every family is a struggle. Behind every success is a battle.
We all carry burdens. The difference is not whether we have them, but where we take them.
Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, LSB).
Instead of wishing for someone else’s life, thank God for His faithfulness in yours. The same God who has carried you this far will carry you through whatever you’re facing today.
You may not have the life you wanted, but if Christ is your Savior, you have something far greater than a life without problems. You have the hope of eternity and a God who will never leave you nor forsake you.
Maybe today, instead of reaching into the hat, we should fall on our knees.
Prayer Night is tomorrow 6p-8p. We have a place you can come that to get away from the distractions and the noise. You can just sit here, you can read scripture, you can pray in the pew, you can kneel at the alter. We welcome you.
