Light and dark are identities. You are light, it says. Since you are in Christ, you are light. The light drives out the dark. Be the light. Be the light of the world as scripture teaches us. We belong to the light. We belong to God. You do not belong to darkness, so do not live in darkness. You cannot be light and dark at the same time. Satan has already shown us several times his hand. He knows the Word and tries to use it against you. He attempted to deceive Jesus in the wilderness by using the Word. He knows the truth but he doesn’t want you to know it. He has lost his place in Heaven, so he wants to destroy as much as possible. Your relationship with Jesus and the Word is important. Know the truth for yourself. Know the Word for yourself.

Just a reminder to keep God, your personal relationship with God first in your heart. Sometimes we can be so focused on achieving purpose or doing the next assignment from God that we actually forget God in the process. God does have His purpose for you, but your relationship with God is more important. Don’t idolize the purpose or assignment. God should always be enough and trust Him to lead you to accomplish what He has for you.

The thing about deception is that people don’t know they are being deceived. Be careful not to be tossed around by every teaching and wind of doctrine. Study to show thyself approved. The Word of God should be handled with care and taught what it is actually saying and not what a person wants to hear. Scripture being used out of context is deception.

Sometimes many things overtake us and we become busy with our day to day activities. We have much to do and much to take care of. Here, Jesus is reminding us to just rest in Him. We don’t need to do as much as we think we need to do. Better still, we probably need to do even less than that. Mary was just resting at Jesus’ feet. She wasn’t worried about the small things. Rest at His feet. Rest in Him. That is by far the better choice.
