"The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." -Romans 10:8b-9.
Every Sunday we stand and say the Apostles' Creed together. A creed is a list of things we believe. Christians have said these words for hundreds of years, all around the world, to remind us of the beliefs we have in common as a family. There are a lot of words to understand, but we keep learning what they mean as we grow older. The three most important words are underlined. These describe the Holy Trinity— three ways we know God.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from
thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
