Something to think about.

“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.”
2 CORINTHIANS 3:5
Being a woman is hard, but working to be the woman of God you think you should be is even harder. It’s not easy being everything for everyone, yet still feeling like you’re not enough.

Dear Woman, if you feel this way, please take a deep breath and listen. This is what God would say to you today.

Stop seeking self-improvement, and instead seek my face. Remember that My strength is in your weakness, that you have been made perfect in Me, that I am in you, and you are in Me.

You are what I say you are, and you are enough. You can rest in My perfect peace, knowing the plans I have for you, plans for a wonderful future.

Stop fighting battles I have already won. Stop waging war on yourself. Stop planning to do better, and simply follow my path I have laid out for you.

Stop working on being a better woman of God, and focus on residing in me. I am your safe place.

Stop trying to be everything, and rest in the fact that I already am. In Me you have fullness of life. In Me, you are already enough.

Dear God, please help me to rest in the identity you gave me as a daughter of the one true King. Help me to know that in your eyes, who I am is enough--now, forever and always. In Jesus’ name, amen.

PHILIPPIANS 4:13
I wonder, will I ever be enough? For others, or even, more importantly, for myself? I’m not sure.

I’ve distracted by the voices. You know the ones I’m talking about. The voices that always tell you what you are not.

You don’t know enough to do this.

You aren’t equipped for this.

You don’t have the ability to carry this out like it deserves.

The voices say, “You’re not enough.” They tell little lies. That subsequently sound like they could be true.

This morning the Lord got honest with me, and you know how we all need that hard truth hammered home sometimes!

I felt like God said, “You are not enough. You’ll never be enough.”

I couldn’t measure up to my own expectations or even that of the world around me, and there was something freeing about admitting that. Saying to myself, “Yep, you’ll never be enough.” You see, it was a relief because of what the Lord whispered next.

He said, “but Jesus. He is enough.”

I could not measure up, but through Him I could step up. I could step into all the things God has for me. Alone, I definitely wasn’t enough to fill the shoes He had laid down, but with Him I could still walk confidently, walk forward, walk in peace.

I’d never be enough, but Jesus? Well, He had already paid more than enough for me for all eternity.

Dear God, thank You that Jesus is more than enough for me. In Jesus’ name, amen

I Hear His Whisper...
I feel your pain.

My precious child, you are not alone in this pain. I am here, not only to bind your broken heart, but also to carry you in your grief. I not only understand your suffering, but also share your pain. I feel it too. I am affected by the agony of those I love.

There is a difference, though. I do not dwell on pain. It has no power over me, and I am teaching you to not allow it to have power over you. If you will give me your brokenness, I will take it from you. Place it now in my hands that were pierced for you. Leave it here with me, and I will lighten your load. In exchange, I will pour out my healing balm. It is time to find me in the midst of your anguish. It is time to rest in my arms so I can breathe hope and life into you again. It is okay to feel pain, but now I want you to give it to me. It’s time to smile again. It’s time to let me heal your heart.

Psalm 22:24
The Passion Translation

He has not despised my cries of deep despair. He’s my first responder to my sufferings, and when I was in pain, he was there all the time and heard the cries of the afflicted.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18
The Christian life isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s usually the very opposite. It’s no secret that the more intentional you are about pursuing the Lord, the more forcefully Satan tends to come against you in your efforts. And in the times when things get rough or we need a rock to lean against, one of the greatest and most powerful ways we can combat the “fiery arrows of the devil” (Eph. 6:16) is to pray without ceasing.

For many people, the Apostle Paul’s instructions to pray without ceasing sound inspirational, poetic, and desirable. But is it actually possible to do? Can anyone truly go through their days, weeks, months and years in today’s society and actually pray without ceasing?

Think about this: The Greek word for “without ceasing” in 1 Thessalonian 5:17 is adialeiptos, which doesn’t mean nonstop — but instead means constantly recurring.

Don’t we already do things that are constantly recurring? Our phones and mobile devices alone are a breeding ground for habits that are constantly recurring.

Don’t you think that if we are CALLED to pray without ceasing, we could do so in a constant and recurring fashion like we do with texting and social media?

God knows the closeness that comes from a relationship with Him. He longs to be near to us. His desire to grow in relationship with us is no different than our desire to grow in relationship with others.

Pray without ceasing: It’s being constantly aware of the Lord’s presence and pursuing Him above all things.

Dear God, please help me be constantly aware of Your presence today, and encourage those you love to do the same. In Jesus’ name, amen

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
ISAIAH 40:31
Most of us are pretty good at staying busy. We focus on the millions of things that need to get done, and forget that our strength comes from God until we find ourselves dragging. We begin to feel edgy and start to lose patience. Everything starts to feel like work, even time with family or things we usually enjoy. God tells us to cast our cares to Him, but we tend to carry all of our burdens ourselves, which causes us to become weary and discouraged. Sometimes we just have to rest in the Lord’s strength.

We aren’t supposed to do things using sheer willpower. Sooner or later, we will just lose steam. Tonight, I have lost steam. The tears are on the brink of falling, and I just want to curl up under my blankets. Things feel too overwhelming and complicated. I am clearly doing things in my own strength and need to place my concerns at the foot of the cross. When you feel like you’re at the end of your rope, look up. God is still holding tight. He won’t let you come crashing down. He is your Father, and He loves you dearly.

Here are 4 comforting verses for those times when you feel weak and weary:

1. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” —2 Corinthians 12:9-10

2. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” —2 Corinthians 1:3-5

3. “A Song of Ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.” —Psalm 121:1-8

4. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” —Romans 8:31-37

Dear God, I praise you for being strong when I am weak, weary, and worn. Please stay near to me as I soak in your presence, providence, and unchanging love. In Jesus’ name, amen

I Hear His Whisper . . .
You are radiant.

I am the One who has formed you and defined you. Others stare at your weaknesses and faults, but I gaze upon your beauty. Twice, I have perfected you—once in your mother’s womb and once when you came to know me. You are twice purified in my eyes, for you are mine.

When you surrender to me, you no longer guide your life, but I, the Good Shepherd, am the One who leads you. I have served you my grace, even as you have yielded to me your heart. As you pray, your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely in my eyes. I want you to see yourself the way I see you—holy, powerful, and radiant. I desire only the best for you. I lead you on paths that will not cause you to stumble, as long as you hold my hand. I want you to believe that you are exactly who I say you are—full of destiny, a perfect partner for me. Never hesitate to give me the desires of your heart. I will bring them to pass.
