I struggled with fibroids through my 20s and 30s. I endured the pain and other challenges related to fibroids for almost
20 years because to remove the fibroids met I was ready to have a baby. My doctor advised that once they were removed
if you didn't have a baby they would start to come back. Unmarried and not desiring to be a single mom, I waited. When I was 39, my doctor advised that we could no longer
wait. I had surgery (myomectomy) to remove my fibroids. A year later I married at age 40. At 43 with the help of IVF, I gave birth to my first child. At age 46, again with the help of IF, I gave birth to my second child. I am blessed to be the mother of two boys 11 and 8 years old. During my infertility
journey, God also birthed in me a desire to support other women on this journey.

I’m Dr Katashia and I am an infertility survivor and advocate. I suffered with fibroids & endometriosis. I had a hysterectomy at the age of 38 due to fibroids and endometriosis. Never been pregnant. I was a in dark place but I am able to speak from my scars and not my open wounds. I am here to say that God is soo good and I learned 3 lessons while on my infertility journey...keep the faith, accept the facts and tell my story. I didn’t birth a baby but God showed me that I can birth possibilities. Thank you and for bringing awareness about black women & infertility. This topic is near and dear to me.
