On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and enslaved Black Americans learned of their freedom, over two years after President Lincoln abolished with the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today we honor Juneteenth as a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is not freedom denied.

🎣🐟 What a way to end VBS 2026!
Our Hooked on Jesus Finale was a huge success! Day 3 started with an exciting trip to the Downtown Aquarium before wrapping up at church for an amazing night of VBS fun. We also crowned our Most Guests Invited winner—congratulations!
A huge thank you to all of our teachers, leaders, kitchen staff, volunteers, parents, and everyone who helped make these three days so special. We appreciate every child and family who joined us!

🎣💙💚 VBS Finale – Hooked on Jesus Day! 💚💙🎣
Today marks the FINAL DAY of Vacation Bible School at Lyons Unity MBC! What an incredible week we’ve had getting Hooked and Reeled In to Serve God! 🌊✨
As we wrap up this amazing journey, we’re celebrating Hooked on Jesus Day! We invite everyone to wear your church shirt or your favorite blue and green colors as we come together for one last day of faith, fun, fellowship, and unforgettable memories.
We’ve learned, laughed, worshiped, and grown closer to God throughout this week, and we’re excited to finish strong! 🙌🏾❤️
