Paul said it this way, “Outwardly this house that I live in may be perishing, but inwardly I’m being renewed day by day.” He was saying, “Things may be aging on the outside, but inwardly I’m refreshed, I’m renewed.” That’s talking about your thoughts. Your attitude. If you go around thinking old thoughts, “My knees are so stiff. I think my hearing’s going. I can’t concentrate anymore. At my age, it’s to be expected.” The problem with that mindset is that you’re letting yourself get old. Your attitude determines your age more than your birthday. I’ve seen eighty-year-old people with a twenty-year-old attitude. They’re fun, positive, sharp, a joy to be around. I’ve seen thirty-year-old people with an eighty-year-old attitude. We’re all going to age. You can’t stop the clock from ticking. But you don’t have to get old. It’s in our mind. I love the phrase I heard, “Don’t let the old man in.” That old man, that old woman is going to come knocking at your door. “You’re tired. You can’t do what you used to. Look at those wrinkles. Nobody needs you anymore.” Some people answer that door, “Come on in and get a cup of coffee. Tell me some more.” No, keep that door closed. Tell the old man, “No thanks.” Tell the old woman, “You’re not welcome here.” You stay young by being renewed in the spirit of your mind.

The best thing you can do for your family, for your friends, is to be good to yourself, be kind to yourself, be merciful to yourself, be forgiving of yourself, be loving to yourself. You’re good to others, why aren’t you good to yourself? You don’t criticize your friend, why are you criticizing yourself? You compliment your coworker, when’s the last time you complimented yourself? You admire their talent; why don’t you admire your talent? Start being good to yourself. That’s not being selfish, that’s not arrogant, that’s loving who God made you to be.

Chosen By God | Joel Osteen

You have free will and the ability to control your life. However, God has already planned ahead of time a purpose for you to fulfill. You were chosen and predestined according to God’s plan. You weren’t born into an empty stage, long before you arrived God wrote a script for you.

Do you realize who you belong to? Your gifts, your talents, your greatness doesn’t come from people, from family, from relatives. It comes from your Heavenly Father. When He breathed life into you, He put His DNA on the inside. That’s how David could do something no one in his family had done. Our natural DNA gets passed down, but your spiritual DNA will override the natural.
