God puts you in situations so you can see what’s in you. He already knows what’s there. But if you’ll recognize it and make the adjustments, then you’re proving to Him that you have the character to be promoted. God will test you in private before He’ll promote you in public. How do you handle that coworker who always ignores you, doesn’t pay you any attention, but now they need your help? They asked you for a favor. It’s easy to say, “Sorry, I’m busy, loser. No thanks. You didn’t give me the time of day.” It’s a small thing, but it can keep you from something big. It’s revealing what’s in you. Pay attention to your attitude toward hurts, offenses, being wronged. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person to feel offended or want revenge. You’re human. Those feelings come to us all. What I’m saying is there’s a better way to live. When you make the choice to override those feelings and bless those who have done you wrong, cover them when you could expose them, be good to them even though they weren’t good to you, you are positioning yourself for promotion.

The Scripture says, “When you’re good to your enemies, it’s like heaping coals of fire on their head.” Coals, back in that day, represented purification. Coals were used for softening metal. Coals brought warmth to a cold home. Your kindness is softening them. Your mercy melts their hardness. Your goodness is conviction. God is using you to change them, to purify them, to make them better.

Don’t let the negative take up the most space. Relive your victories. Dwell on what’s right about you and not what’s wrong with you. You can’t become who you were created to be if you’re negative toward yourself. Yes, there are forces trying to stop us, but I wonder if you are your own worst enemy. Circumstances may be against you, people will come against you, but you can overcome those things. The problem is if you are against you. If you’re negative toward yourself, that will keep you from your destiny.

Take The Antidote
You are not at the mercy of fear. God is breathing in your direction; Him being for you is more than the world being against you.

God Has Spoken To You | Joel Osteen

When you know what you’ve heard, you won’t be upset when circumstances don’t line up. Don’t be moved by what you see, trust what God has spoken to you. Are you going to let what you see talk you out of what you’ve heard?

The Scripture says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God raises up a barrier.” Sometimes there’s a flood of heartbreak, a flood of anxiety, a flood of trouble. God knows there are things we can’t handle on our own. It’s too much to carry. We don’t have the strength, the passion, the courage. That’s when He steps in and raises up a barrier. He’ll push back the opposition, lighten the load, carry that burden.
