Will you join us in praying for biological families today?

Many parents are working hard to overcome significant challenges and create a safe, stable future for themselves and their children. Some are carrying wounds from difficult experiences in their own childhoods and need support, encouragement, and hope along the way.

Today, take a moment to pray for these moms and dads. Pray for strength, perseverance, healing, and the determination to keep moving forward as they work toward reunification with their children. And pray that they and their children would encounter the love of Jesus again and again through the people walking alongside them on the journey toward reunification.

What does reunification look like?

1️⃣ 𝗔 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.
Children may enter foster care for a variety of reasons, including abuse, neglect, abandonment, or parental incapacity. During this time, they are placed with relatives or foster families who can provide a safe and stable home.

2️⃣ 𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱.
Reunification is the primary goal of nearly every foster care case. The court establishes a plan and timeline based on the unique needs of the child and family.

3️⃣ 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻.
Parents are given specific steps to complete and services to support their progress. Caseworkers help guide the process and provide updates and recommendations to the court along the way.

4️⃣ 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱.
As progress is made, visits often increase in frequency and duration. When it is safe and appropriate, the court develops a transition plan, and the children return home.

While every case is different, the hope is always that families can heal, grow, and be reunited safely.

"We had a mission fair at our church, where we hosted a booth for The CALL. After the event, as we were packing everything back into the car, a college-aged young man came up to me and said he wanted to thank me. I asked, 'For what?'

He told me that when he was 15 or 16, he entered foster care. It turns out, we had given him clothes, something he desperately needed then. I teared up and hugged him. I asked what he was doing now, and he told me he was living with his foster parents and going to college. We told him how proud we were of him and encouraged him to finish school.

After years of volunteering, I can't remember what we gave him. But he does. That action clearly meant so much to him, then and now. It truly touched my heart."

"When we adopted our children, we didn’t have a true support base. We were blessed with a loving family, a supportive church, and counselors who helped us in immeasurable ways, but we lacked support from those who truly understood adoption and the unique challenges of children coming from foster care—the kind of 'home base' support that makes all the difference.

Finding The CALL changed that. We were completely humbled by the depth of care, encouragement, and training we received, even without having a placement. We are deeply grateful for the constant love and support The CALL has poured into our family, and we are truly honored to be part of The CALL family."

"A local resident reached out to us, eager to support The CALL by combining her passion for couponing with her heart for serving the community. Since then, we’ve been able to share ongoing needs and projects with her, and she thoughtfully looks for ways to meet those needs through her couponing efforts.

Her generosity has made a meaningful impact—providing items for our blessing baskets for new families, DHS appreciation bags, Christmas gifts for moms, and a wide variety of personal hygiene and essential items.

We are continually inspired by her joy in giving and her creative use of her couponing skills to support The CALL’s mission."
