Celebrate Recovery at Lake Valley

Celebrate Recovery at Lake Valley Celebrate Recovery has several meetings in central Arkansas. WHAT IS CELEBRATE RECOVERY? IS CELEBRATE RECOVERY FOR ME? WHY DO I NEED IT?

The sole purpose of Lake Valley Community Church's Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate the healing power God has over us. Celebrate Recovery is based "8 Recovery Principles", which is based off of the 8 Beatitudes Jesus Christ taught in His message from the Sermon on the Mount. As we progress, we begin to grow spiritually and free from our addictive, compulsive behaviors. We

are to become free from shame and guilt and able to experience peace, serenity, and joy. Most importantly, as we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power. Celebrate Recovery is for anyone with the courage to be honest about life's hurts, habits and hang-ups and willing to open their life to healing and change. We believe in walking through the pain of this life together as we follow Christ, not telling people how or where they should walk. We are all still recovering from hurt and pain, our current or past addictions are no longer hidden but are now front and center, and you will probably easily identify the hang-ups in each of us. Thankfully, our identity is not found in our weaknesses or struggles, but is found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Regardless of the problem—whether emotional, financial, spiritual, relational, sexual, chemical, or other—the steps to recovery are the same. Each of us needs repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 3:23 and 6:23)."

We may not be able to help the whole world be a better place today. But why not help the ones God places right in front of us?

In my own life, there was a time when my heart hurt so deeply that not much helped. But I remember an ordinary day when one of my friends randomly dropped off dinner for me. She didn’t even ask to come inside. She just texted me that she left dinner on the front porch, allowing me to have my space while making sure I knew she was there for me.

I cried because I had just prayed for God to help me. And then my friend showed up. Even though the soup she made wasn’t the solution for what I was facing, I felt a lot less alone. And I felt seen by God.

You can love and help and pray for someone without knowing the full story. Help with an obvious small need. Make that phone call. Send that card you wish you would receive in the mail. Leave an encouraging comment on her social media. Stop by with her favorite coffee just to say hello. Pick a flower and place it where she can see something beautiful. I believe that when we suddenly find ourselves in the seat of suffering (and all of us will be there at some point), what we’ve modeled to others will often be returned back to us.

Judgment can end with us when gentleness flows through us. Together, let’s show someone a little less judgment and a lot more of Jesus today.

Psalm 119:37

08/15/2024

I want God’s Word to change me. But if I don’t apply it to my life I won’t be changed.

That’s because inspiration and information without personal application will never amount to transformation.

Romans 12:2 reminds us to be “transformed” by the renewing of our minds. That renewing isn’t a brief spiritual inspiration that comes from brushing up against the truth. It is a heart softened by God’s truth and a life transformed by the application of His truth.

What’s a truth from God’s Word that you’ve been challenged to live recently? Let’s be determined that today is the day for intentionally living His truth.
