What a wonderful Sunday morning at FUMCHS! 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for worship this morning and stayed to enjoy brunch and fellowship together. There’s something special about gathering around the table after gathering in worship—and we’re so grateful for the community we share.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make today’s brunch possible and to all who came, shared a meal, visited with friends, and made the morning so much fun.

🎉 Our BIGGEST Youth group yet! Last night was such a joy as we welcomed new faces to The Underground and reconnected with students we’ve been missing! 🫶

We talked about David’s choices, owning our mistakes, and turning back to God—and connected it to a question teens face today: Is AI helping us learn, or doing our thinking for us? Our takeaway: If we can’t explain the answer or show our own thinking, AI has done too much. We encouraged students to choose honesty, take responsibility, and ask God for wisdom. ❤️

And we had LOTS of laughs putting our Hacky Sack skills to the test! Some good old-fashioned throwback fun! 🤩😂

🎬 Next Wednesday: “TikTok Made Us Do It!” We’ll be making fun TikTok videos and connecting our lesson on Solomon to making wise choices. Bring a friend and come join us!

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to recognize and celebrate Barbara Tornquist for her faithful service as our interim organist at First United Methodist Church.

Barbara has shared her time, talent, and beautiful gift of music with our congregation, helping lead us in worship and filling our sanctuary with music each week. We are so grateful for the dedication, joy, and care she has brought to this role.

🌱 ROOTED IN JESUS 🌱

In Children’s Worship, our kids learned what it means to be rooted in Jesus!

Mrs. Michelle brought in a real plant, and we carefully examined its roots. We discovered that even though roots are usually hidden, they do some very important work: they hold the plant steady, provide water and nutrients when it is thirsty, and help it survive and grow.

We are a lot like those plants! Jesus is the source of our strength and growth. When we stay connected to Him by reading our Bibles, praying, worshiping, and loving others, our faith grows stronger and our lives begin to show His love.

The children made their own “I Am Rooted in Jesus” plants, with four roots reminding them to stay connected through:

📖 Bible
🙏 Prayer
🎶 Worship
❤️ Loving others

“Continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.” — Colossians 2:6–7

We are so thankful for these sweet children and the faith God is growing in each one of them! 🌿💚

This may be the sweetest thing you see all day! 🥹❤️

We were all seated as our pastor began leading the Lord’s Prayer. Then, completely on her own, this sweet little one stood up and began reciting every word right along with us! 🙏

Our pastor was grinning from ear to ear. We only wish we had captured the entire moment, but we’re so thankful Bella caught part of it on video. Thank you, Bella! ❤️

Our children are always watching, listening, learning, and growing in their faith.
