SEMINAR ON THE MORAL REVOLUTION
Hospers Presbyterian Church (PCA) will host its third summer seminar on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. The title of the seminar is “Alfred Kinsey’s Wild Ride (or Bogus Adventure?).” Pioneer “sex researcher” Alfred Kinsey was a key figure in the sexual revolution of the last century, lending supposed “scientific” credence to the new, anything goes sexual morality. His studies on male and female sexuality released in the post-WWII era supposedly revealed that the traditional sexual morality of his day was a sham. But other researchers decried his methods, especially his skewed sampling among the prison population and his deliberately seeking a large percentage of homosexuals and prostitutes as his interview subjects. More recent revelations about Kinsey’s own life demonstrate not only personal motivation for bias, but shocking personal and professional behavior.
His “findings” became yet another intellectual cornerstone in the current sexual revolution. It is another indication that the sexual revolution has not only led to epidemics of physical and moral disease but that “its papers had been forged as well.”
The speaker is Dr. Brian Janssen, a pastor for over 30 years. The author of three books, Dr. Janssen has lectured widely on a variety of subjects and serves as an adjunct professor at Northwest Iowa Community College. The presentations are in a multi-media format with generous time for Q&A interaction.
All summer seminars are held at the church, are open to the public, and refreshments will be served during the break.
