Build- week 3:

Life and the situations you get put into in life can be really tough. I'm sure that more than once you've felt like some situations are just too much for you. Have you ever just felt like it would just be much easier to just quit and move on to something else? Like some situations are just not even worth the fight?
In Nehemiah 4:9, we see the Israelites asking God for help in their tough situations. They were desperate for it. They couldn't fix this problem on their own, and they knew it. In verses 15-18, the Israelites came together to build this wall. There were enemies coming against them, but because of God those threats didn't even effect them. The Israelites didn't give up, even when the situation got tough. They prayed, and they asked God for help, and He came into the situation.
Often times when we get into tough circumstances we think that we have to fix it on our own, but honestly we usually end up making it worse. God meets us where
We're at, and when we're united in prayer we can actually get through those tough situations. Life seems a whole lot harder when the burden of pressured situations are on our shoulders. But if we give the burden over to God, He takes the weight off our shoulders and helps us win the fight.
Give God the chance to help you with your burdens. He doesn't want you to lose the fight, and He will never give up on you. You are a child of God and you get to fight along side Him.

Build-week 2:

How many of you procrastinate when you're supposed to get things done? We get so overwhelmed by things that we're supposed to finish that we almost become paralyzed by it. Have you ever had a dream that just seemed too big for you? Sometimes we get stuck in that dream because we don't know where to start to make it happen.
In Nehemiah 2:17-18, Nehemiah had a big dream to rebuild his home city and he brought that dream to the king. The king allows him to go back to Jerusalem with his friends to rebuild his home. The biggest trouble that Jerusalem was facing was that they needed their wall rebuilt, and Nehemiah had to see this problem to understand it. Nehemiah realizes in this moment that by rebuilding Jerusalem's walls that real growth can begin to happen. His first step caused a ripple effect for Jerusalem so that it could be strong again.
Nehemiah just needed to take the first step of rebuilding the wall back for change to happen. He stepped out in faith for God and his small step helped big things get done. God calls us to do the same thing with our dreams. When we step out in faith and let God step in He takes our dreams and turns them into a reality. What small steps can you take towards the dreams God has for you?

Build- week 1:

What is it like where you're growing up? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Are there things you'd change? What tends to happen in these places is that we start to see them as a launching pad. Everything you're doing seems to be just a place holder for the future you actually believe you want. An important question you should be asking yourself right now is, is where you live right now important?
In Nehemiah 1:2-4, we see Nehemiah begin to pray for his hometown and he realizes that something there has gone wrong. They had recently been destroyed and he knew he had to do something about it. In Nehemiah 1:11 he begins to ask God for favor with the Persian king so he can go home and help his hometown. He is positioned in such a way that he can ask the king for permission to go home and help. Nehemiah's position wasn't an accident, and neither is ours. He cared about his town and because of his position with the King he was able to take care of it well.
What would you do differently if you believed that where you were placed right now wasn't an accident? What if you believed you were supposed to be there right now? Would you begin to believe that you were actually called there for more than just a launchpad? Where you are matters. Whether you realize it or not now, you can make a difference where you live. We have opportunities every single day to make a difference in our home towns. Be like Nehemiah and use where you're positioned to make a difference.

Friends- Week 4:

Have you ever had difficulty loving difficult people? What about being a friend to someone who just pushes you away? We can actually be a friend to others, even when they don't necessarily deserve it. It's not very often that our first thought is to love others despite how they've acted in the past. How do we get past the struggle of not being able to love others despite the circumstances? Jesus has actually showed us what it looks like to love others. He can be the example we need in order to love well.

In John 15:12-13, we see Jesus talking to His disciples about how to love one another. He tells us to lay down our lives for one another. The love that's being talked about in these verses is Agape love. Agape love is the kind of love that has no strings attached, this is the kind of love that God has for us. God is our number one example for how to love one another. He has loved us despite our past and despite how difficult we've been. Through everything He still sent His only son to die for us so that we could be with Him forever.

When we remember that God first loved us, we can have Him as our example to love each other. Sometimes it's tough to love others, but use Him as your guide. Look at others the same way He looks at you.

No chill- week 2:

What is the dating myth? The dating myth is this idea that when we find "the one" we will no longer be lonely, and we will be fulfilled. It's a myth because this is just a fairytale, it's not something that we're going to find. In high school, 99% of dating relationships do not last. Dating isn't a bad thing, but we put so much time and effort into something that might not last. We all have this compulsion for completion. We think we need to have someone to be complete, or that when someone needs us they make us feel complete.
In Colossians 2:10, Paul tells us we are complete when we are in our union with Christ. He completes the part of us that seeks to be known. What this tells us is that two incomplete people cannot come together and make one whole person. However, when we're complete in Christ two complete people can come together and continue to grow closer to God. When we unite ourself with Christ, we find completion in Him. When we find completeness in Christ we no longer go searching for it. When Jesus is all that you have, Jesus becomes all that you need.

When we feel loneliness, it's actually Gods cry to us to seek relationship with Him. He wants to know you, and He wants you to seek out who He is. No one else can complete you the way that God can. Take the time this week to seek out who He is, and let Him be who you run to when you feel lonely. He has such a fullness for you, all you have to do is seek Him.

No chill- week 1:

What makes a person a best friend? A best friend can be someone who stays with you through the good and the bad. They can be someone who you trust in to talk to about absolutely anything. It's someone who you can completely be yourself around. Friendships are designed to bring you close to God. The moment the friendship begins to fill the void that Jesus is supposed to fill, that's the moment it becomes an unhealthy friendship.
In 1 Samuel 18:1-4 we are shown what a good friendship actually looks like. David and Jonathan give us this example of a God filled friendship. They are both like minded in God, and Jonathan literally lays down His right to the throne for David. A lot of times, we want to be David in this story. We expect to have a Jonathan come along and lay down everything for us. When we only take out of our friendships, we only get an unhealthy friendship. We need to be more like Jonathan. We need to lay down our lives for our friends.
How do we go from unhealthy friendships to healthy ones? Cut out the unhealthy friendships, find someone who is like minded in Christ, and take the time to write down what you want out of your friendship. God desires for you to be in friendships that build you up, and that grow you both closer to Him. You can have friends who love and support you, and you get to be that friend for someone as well.

Branded- week 3:

Do you know anyone that models what a Christian should look like? That one person who you look at and you want to follow Jesus more closely because of who they are. Or maybe you see certain people, and you just hope that strangers don't associate them with Christians. There's something about them that makes you scared that others will get the wrong idea about who Jesus is. Sometimes Christians get branded as the boring ones, the ones who say one thing and do another, or people who speak and don't do. What would happen if we actually started actually coming alive in what Jesus has for us?
In Phillipians 2:14-15, Paul tells us to shine like bright lights. We are called to shine brightly, not dim, but brightly like the stars. The reality is, Jesus is the brightest light, and when we connect with Him we shine for Him. Like moths to a flame, others will be drawn to you and to Jesus. When others see that light He placed in us, they see Jesus and not us. When you have confidence in Jesus, and you're shining the way He wants you to shine, peoples opinion on Jesus changes. There is something different about people who shine for Jesus.
Jesus didn't come for us to have a dull boring life, but a life full of light and joy. Shining brightly for Jesus doesn't take work, it just takes us having the will to be passionate about Him. How do you think your community would change if we began shining for Him, and letting others see what He can do.

Branded- week 2:

From a young age we're told to take care of ourselves first, that we have to have things under control. We get so wrapped up in our own worlds that we don't let anyone else in. How does this come off to people who aren't Christians? What happens when we get so wrapped up in our own church world that we don't let others in? Some of the top ways that Non-Christians name when talking about Christians is self-absorbed and un-excepting. How do we change this and become less absorbed with our selves?
In Phillipians 2:3-6, Paul tells us not to look at our own interests, but to take interests in others too. We have to have the same attitude that Jesus had when He dealt with selfishness.
How can we have the same attitude as Jesus? What could it look like for us to live the way he did? We can surrender ourselves to what Jesus has for us, surrender all control to what He wants to do in our lives. We can surrender our status in our friend groups and community. We often try to fit in and change who we are so that we don't stand out or get left out. When we let go of what we think it means to look cool or fit in, and just let Jesus have a hand in our lives, impossible things will begin to happen.
We can have faith in God for literally the impossible. He wants us to be bold, and to do the impossible with Him. When we put others needs in front of our own, people who don't know Jesus can actually get a better look at what He's like. Set yourself a side for just a moment, so that someone else can get to know a Father who loves and cares so much about them.

Branded- week 1:

Why Branded? Branded is the reality of what we experience every single day. We can't escape the brands in life. We somehow fit into a certain category as we move from place to place. As a Christian we get branded over lots of things, positive and negative. People see Christians in a very specific way.
Paul tells us to guard our branding in a certain way, and to extend that love to others. In Phillipians 2:1-2, Paul is trying to tell us that because we've been given so much, and we need to give it back out. We've received kindness, encouragement, and love, and Paul is telling us to give all of that kindness and encouragement away.
There are people all around us who haven't yet received encouragement and kindness. How big of a difference do you think it would make if we started giving what we've gotten away? If you began to see that every single person was created by the Lord in His image, do you think we could change the way we see brands? We get to actually experience a new piece of the lord with every single new person we meet.

How can you change the way you see your brand?
