Good Morning Church Road Family! As we finished the book of 1 Peter this past Sunday, I'm excited to consider the book of Amos together in the next few weeks. If you're like me and don't know much about Amos, here's a helpful primer to get started. Pray that the Lord would reveal His character to us through His Word.

Watch our overview video on the book of Amos, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In this book, Amos accuses Israel of...

As Peter draws his letter to a close, he wants to reinforce what is needed to stand firm in the midst of trials. His exhortations might surprise you. As a shepherd, Peter wants us to see the dangers of persecution, and trust God to give us what we need to overcome. Peter is confident that those who stand firm do so in the grace of God. If you are suffering, come and hear how God helps you stand firm in suffering.

This Sunday we'll be introducing a new song to our church family: May the Peoples Praise You by the Gettys.

Based on Psalm 67, this song reminds us that God has been gracious and good to us. His blessings are not meant to stop with us, but to lead us to praise Him and make Him known among the nations.

Take a few minutes this weekend to read Psalm 67 and listen to the song as we prepare to sing it together on Sunday.

"Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you!" (Psalm 67:3)

You have called us out of darkest nightInto Your glorious lightTh...

God raises up pastors because He loves His people. The Father cares so deeply about the souls of His people. Not only does the Father, Son and Spirit secure the salvation of our souls; the triune God also sends pastors to help care for their souls on their way to heaven. As Peter's letter draws to a close, he encourages the leaders of the church and reminds them of their job description.

In our suffering, we see this truth most clearly: His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isa 55:8-9). Often, God's view of suffering and our view of suffering are totally different. We agree that everything happens for a reason until something difficult comes our way. We can trust God in our suffering because He has a purpose for it.

If you knew your time on earth was coming to an end soon, what would you do? Does the reality of the death and resurrection of Jesus affect what you would prioritize? For Peter, Jesus changed everything. Come and see how the end times cause Christians to double down on counting others as more significant than himself/herself.

A special Sunday at Church Road Baptist as we celebrated baby dedication and honored our graduate.

Please join us in praying for these parents as they raise their children in the instruction of the Lord, and for our graduate as he steps into a new season seeking to follow Christ faithfully.
