The Way Of The Samurai For Christ

The Way Of The Samurai For Christ This is a page a Men's Ministry, focused on how to be good servant leaders in Christ. Christian Samurai We seek to emulate the positive aspect of them!

This page is for those who live to serve Christ, our Lord and God, our Savior. It is for those who wish to dedicate themselves to the way of the samurai. Samurai means (roughly) to serve, and we do serve our Lord. He is our master, our leader, and to live and die for Him is a great honor indeed! We don't advocate unnecessary violence towards others, or ritual su***de, or any other negative aspects

of the samurai. The side that follows the strict code that calls us to deal honestly with others, sacrifice of ourselves to protect, and to take responsibility for our actions! As a samurai, we are not just called to serve w***y nilly. To be a TRUE samurai requires dedication and training. Not just in the martial arts (which can help you focus better on other aspects of life) but also in the spiritual arts. A samurai normally wore two swords as a symbol called Daishō. We too shall wear them (although wearing swords in public, in the literal sense might get you arrested). We should have with us, in our hearts, the Word of God. The old and new Testaments. Two swords, one way. To the samurai the sword was part of their soul, part of who they are. To this extent we are to be the same way. The Word of God should be part of who we are, embedded in our souls, filling our hearts. While not quite the same with the Word of God, the idea is there, and in essence the same. All glory be to God almighty!

To be a Christian Samurai, you must be humble and know your place.

The beginning learning how to be an effective Christian Samurai is learning Humility. Before you can start to train to be the best you can be in the ministry God has for you, you must learn humility.

1 Peter 5:6
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you”

Philippians 2:3
“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”

If we seek to be Christian Samurai, and we seek to be good servant leaders, then there is something we must first defeat. As men, we often have a difficult time understanding the concept of being truly humble. We like to compete, we like to better ourselves, and be better than other people. To an extent, and when done right, this is an incredibly good thing. The drive we have to grow and improve ourselves and try to be the best we can be. The Samurai trained daily in their given vocation, striving for perfection. In the same way, we too should strive to be perfect (Though we fail) and train daily in the faith.

The problem comes in when we try to be something, or rather someone, we’re not. Within Christianity there is a hierarchy, and sort of “rank and file”. Everyone is assigned a position by God, and they should seek to fill it the best they can. However, often times men want to be the “top dog”. We seek to be better than everyone else and want to be the one in charge. However, not every man is called to be in a position of great authority. Now, don’t get me wrong, we are all called to be leaders, but not all of us are called to be “high ranking” leaders. Some are called to be Pastors, while others are called to be small group leaders, and still others leaders of their family, and even (when single) simply the leader of his life. Each has a certain level of leadership, some more difficult than others. The key is understanding where God wants us, then humbly accepting this place and serving to the fullest capacity in that role.

Many men have visions of grandeur within the Church. The idea of being the next “Billy Graham” is alluring, but for many that isn’t where you are called to be, and if you want to be that because it means you’re famous, well that’s the wrong reason altogether. Very few men are taught that it’s okay to be the lowest rank. We see great leaders who can speak to thousands and lead armies into battle, and all too often we don’t think about how much they need those they lead. While many men want to be the next “Billy Graham”, not very many want to be the guy who plants the seed that leads to the next “Billy Graham”. Not many men want to be the lower ranking soldiers either, supporting those in higher rank. This can create a problem.

While teaching men to strive for greatness is good, we must also teach them to strive for humility and serve in the way God wants them to. We must teach them that we need foot soldiers and generals, and that both are important. What is a general without his soldiers?

In 1 Peter 5:5 we read:
“Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.””

We are called, especially when younger, to be subject to the elders. There is good reason for this. There is much we can learn from them. They may also need people working under them, to help further the Kingdom of God. Keeping a humble mind and being willing to fill that role and fill it the best you can is Godly.

The next issue is we face as men is understating what kind of warrior God called us to be. Each kind is equally important, and rather difficult to do. We were never called to have a comfortable life. In another post I will go over each kind of warrior God calls us to be, and how each one is supported. I will also go over different positions within that warrior group.

We are called by God to be set apart. We are not of this world, but rather warriors behind enemy lines. Don't make this place your home, don't let your guard down, and don't get comfortable. We're here to fight. We will struggle, we will stumble, we will fail from time to time. Don't lose heart though, your brother has your back! Part of being a warrior means not going it alone either. We uphold one another and give each other strength!

Exodus 17:12-14
English Standard Version
12 But Moses' hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”

When Moses couldn't hold up his arms anymore, Aaron and Hur held them up for him. We should be looking for opportunity to hold our brothers in Christ up, and be willing to admit when we need upholding.

Good will be called evil, evil will be called good. Hate will abound, love will grow cold. Like the embers of a dying fire, slowly fading away. The warmth nothing more than a memory, as this world sinks further into the depths.
There is something that must be done. We as believers are wading through the corpses of the lost. We have two choices. We can join them in death, or we can take hold of the power God has given us. We have it within us to become burning bright lights, to ignite the fires of passion for God and showing His love. That light has the power to bring the dead back to life. It's up to us to do it.

I'm not dead btw, just been busy.

Part of being a leader is being a good servant. Samurai means "to serve". If you're called by God to lead, then you must be willing to humble yourself and serve as well.

Also, a long post is incoming with the start of a long series of posts about Samurai, Bushido, and Christianity, and how they work together. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

God leads us, and He also came as man to serve. God is the perfect King, and He shows us in His very actions how He wants us to be. We're never going to be able to do so perfectly, but we do serve a God who will help us to always get better!

It's been a long time. I haven't been posting on here for a slew of reasons that I can't really go into right now. Spiritual battles, life changes to the extreme, and chaos all over the place. Moved three times, got a new job, found a purpose in life, serving the Lord, found someone who truly loves me and wants to serve God with me, and all the while I've been growing in knowledge of the Lord and the Samurai way. To that end, I've been doing a lot of praying, and I've been feeling convicted to come back to this page and post here regularly. To begin this ministry I've felt called to so long ago. I was not in a good spiritual place before, I was not right with God and I was not able to focus on Him and doing what He has called me to do. I am now. Life has changed so much, and it's time to start going where the Lord leads!

I thank you all for your patience. To the new comers who I have not yet met, I am very grateful for you. To those who have been on here for a while, I'm back and better than ever!
