We are an open and inclusive faith community with a mission to Invite Connection, Inspire Spiritual Growth, and Ignite Action. We invite you to connect with your heart and soul and to deepen relationships with friends both old and new. We inspire personal spiritual growth through worship, education

, and service opportunities. We ignite action in support of our values related to climate change, participatory democracy, LGBTQIA issues, income inequality, and racial justice.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is one of the most sacred sites of American “civic religion” that is; a spiritual commitment to ideals of the nation that has nothing to do with any particular religion. The Tomb was dedicated following World War I, which at the time was called, “the war to end all wars.” Sadly, that was not true, while today, despite recent political promises to the contrary, we are once again involved in a shooting war and told that another is in contemplation. Memorial Day should prompt us to remember all of those who, in our names, made the ultimate sacrifice. It calls us also to resolve that such a sacrifice should not be in vain, that the aims for which they fought should not be forgotten, and that a duty is owed as well to their loved ones. All are invited to join us at 10:30 online or in the sanctuary as we assert that the tombs of our honored dead are “Never Empty in Spirit.” Fellowship to follow.

Here are two ways of thinking about rest. The first is the symbol for a musical rest, indicating to the performer that there will be a period of silence within the flow of music. The second is an image of someone reclining in a summery meadow. Both help us recall the importance of the sabbath, an ancient concept in many religions. As the world pushes us into constant activity, it has never been more important to keep a personal sabbath, a blessed time of respite that allows us to rest and renew.

You are invited to join us online or in the sanctuary at 10:30 this Sunday as we encourage one another to remember the sabbath. Fellowship to follow.

Preemptive Radical Inclusion

In a follow-up to the service they brought last year, CB will share stories and reflections on the framework of Preemptive Radical Inclusion as an entryway to increase equity and justice among ourselves and in the world; a way we embody Beloved Community.

Masking: Those in attendance will practice preemptive radical inclusion for airborne viruses by wearing respirator masks during the service, which will enable CB to practice preemptive radical inclusion by removing their own respirator so folk can hear them better. CB will provide multiple types of N95-quality masks, which might be your chance to try a new type to see if it fits better or more comfortably.
