RECOVERY STARTS WITH KNOWING YOUR HIGHER POWER

At The Hope ConneXion we understand that there are many addictions & habits that take away from our relationships, our families and even our relationships with ourselves. Because of this we realize that we need to redefine our priorities, towards health, wellbeing, and with faith.

The HC has two different addiction recovery groups that meet weekly. Overcomers in Christ is a faith based group that allows a safe space for those suffering in addiction to allow healing and growth in their own faith walk.

The A New Hope NA Group offers people to grow in understanding with their higher power, but also in community of individuals that are trying to support one another in recovery.

Both groups are for those who are tired of the status quo and just want to change and become responsible and productive members of society.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS, SUNDAY OCT. 4, DROP IN 3:00 TO 4:00 PM

ST. MARK’S EPISCOPAL GARDEN, THIRD AND ELM STREET
A MINISTRY OF THE EPISCOPAL, UNITED METHODIST, AND CHURCH OF THE NAZARINE

A Blessing Service for our animals and pets will be held on Sunday Afternoon, Oct. 4 from 3:00 to 4:00PM, a drop in event, in the Garden beside St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Hope, in memory of Saint Francis, (lover of the natural world and animals).

Sponsored by the congregations of the three churches, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, First United Methodist Church, and The Hope ConneXion Church of the Nazarene, all people of the community are invited to bring their cherished pets to the Garden for a blessing. Drop by any time between 3:00 and 4:00 PM.

The hour will begin with a short liturgy of blessing followed by an hour where you may bring your pets for a spiritual blessing by the pastors of the sponsoring churches. If you bring animals such as horses, you may pull up on Elm Street, and the animals will be blessed while they remain in their trailers. If your pet does not play well with others, they may be blessed from within your vehicle or cage. If you bring your cats, please leave them in their crates or securely held (dogs will be present). Dogs should be on leash in order to come into the Garden and not allowed to wander too close to the other animals. These rules will keep everyone safe.

CHILDREN MAY BRING THEIR FAVORITE STUFFED ANIMALS AS WELL FOR A BLESSING.

Saint Francis medals and animal treats will be provided.

A Memorial Table to honor your pets who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge will be available for pictures or remembrances to honor their love and companionship.

Present to bless the animals with be Rev. Michael Mitchell (Episcopal), Rev. Melanie Tubbs (United Methodist) and Rev. Adam Perry, Rev. Amy Perry, and Rev. Jennifer Martinez (Church of the Nazarene).

DO YOU FEED THE HUNGRY?

Food insecurity in Hope, Arkansas, reflects a broader, severe crisis in Arkansas, which ranks among the highest in the U.S. for food insecurity, with rates approaching 20% in recent years.

One of our answers has been to put up Blessin' boxes and attempt to keep them filled up to provide 24/7 access to life sustaining food. If you would like to make a difference, put a couple cans in a Blessin' Box or bring a bulk donation, of shelf stable food, to The Hope ConneXion Outreach Center and our volunteers will share the food amongst the boxes around town.

Your donations don't need to be huge, but we need them often. A small amount of food often creates a reliable resource for our neighbors who are living in the margins. Thank you for your time, your donations and your prayers!

September Compassionate Ministry Drive
"Share the Warmth Coat Drive"

It may seem early to start collecting coats for the winter, but the time is here. We must prepare for the winter to come! We are collecting all new and gently used coats / sweaters / sweatshirts & hoodies to help those who live in the margins this winter! What we collect in September, we use all winter long.

Please be a blessing and donate a coat to someone in need. Thank you Hope, for your response! Help us get prepared for 'Warming Center' weather!

Yesterday during our weekly senior ministry (Thursday's at 11) after our Senior Ministries coordinator finished the message the food trays started to come out. It smelled divine. However, there wasn't enough food to go around and my wife and I took a quick trip home to grab something to eat for lunch. There was enough food for everyone else, just we know that we have to come last.

As I grabbed my can of mini-ravioli out of the cabinet I came to a realization, not everyone has food in their cabinets. I am blessed with a military retirement so I can serve and not receive compensation. With this, every person that shepherds at The Hope ConneXion is a volunteer who's only compensation is being a front line witness to God's Glory.

I have food (my fluffiness testifies to this), however not everyone is as blessed as I; are you in my position? Together, we can testify to something else beyond excess; together, we can testify to God's goodness. One way that we can show God's goodness is through compassion to his likeness (image of God) around us.

Please donate food to your local Blessin' Box. If you have a bit more excess, bring it down to the HCOC and we will use it to fill the Blessin' Boxes as needed.

Thanks for your compassionate hearts! Let us show those in Hope who are living in the margins what God's love is about!

YOU CAN'T OUTGIVE GOD! (Main pantry dangerously low)

Several years ago when we first started putting out Blessin' Boxes in Hope, AR a few individuals would oftentimes take the bags of rice and beans and rip them open and spread them all over the sidewalks. Honestly, it really hurt our hearts that people would be so wasteful; food is food, even if it is not fancy. (This is the Blessin' Box in front of The Hope ConneXion Outreach Center this morning.)

Then we noticed something, the birds were eating up the spilled rice and beans; nothing was going to waste, for it was feeding God's non-human creation. A simple grace from knowing that we were not feeding others in vain. Sometimes people do ugly and hurtful things, but God loves them too. We cannot outgive God, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to walk with God and emulate what God taught us through His Son, Christ.

We kindly ask you to help us love those who are living in the margins of our community. Sometimes people will do ugly things, but God's masterplan will overcome human greed and entitlement. Rice and Beans feed, people and all of God's creatures. Please help us fill our main pantry back up!
