October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and this week we’re celebrating the pastors who serve our church family. We’re excited to start with Pastor Jesús Hernandez.

Pastor Jesús leads Iglesia Vida Cristiana, our Spanish-speaking congregation, and invests in men every week through the Joshua’s Men small group. Because of his leadership, more people in Birmingham get to hear about Jesus and grow in faith in their own language.

Pastor Jesús, thank you for your faithfulness and your heart for people. ¡Gracias, Pastor!

Before you ever walk through the doors on Sunday morning, someone has already been preparing a place for you. From those who arrive early to pray to those who serve behind the scenes, every detail is an act of love.

Church is more than a building. It’s people making room for others to encounter Jesus.

God is in the restoration business! No matter how broken, lost, or far gone something may seem, God is still able to bring healing, renewal, and new life. What the enemy meant for harm, God can use for His glory. Your story isn’t over, and God is still working.

Growth doesn’t happen all at once. It’s a daily choice to let God shape our wisdom, character, relationships, and calling as we become more like Jesus. Let’s be intentional about growing in every area of our lives and trust Him through the process.

An invite is never a waste.

You never know who needs the invitation, the conversation, the community, or simply a place to belong. So invite the friend, send the text, save them a seat.

Because sometimes one simple invite can be the start of something bigger than you ever expected.

Faith isn't meant to stay in your head. It's developed by what you hear, released by what you speak, demonstrated by how you step, secured by how you stay, and passed on by what you tell.

What are you hearing? What are you speaking? Where are you stepping? What are you staying committed to? And what are you passing on?

Faith is lived, not just believed.

Yesterday our Second Season Ministry went to Sylacauga to tour the Blue Bell Creameries! They loaded up the van, watched how the ice cream gets made, enjoyed a scoop (or two) in the parlor, and spent some time in the rocking chairs before lunch together.

Days like this are a reminder that it's never too late for new adventures or new friends. If you're in your second season of life and want to be part of moments like these, our Second Season ministry would love to have you join them!

MEN’S NIGHT 2026

Classic cars, barbecue, Manly Bingo, a little friendly competition, and a room full of men of every age and background who showed up for each other.

Then Jacob Peterson, Lead Pastor of Brownsville Church, called us to wake up from complacency and start walking in the glory of God. No more coasting. No more sleepwalking through our faith.

“Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5:14

Thank you to every man who came, served, and brought a friend. This is just the beginning.
