UAB Football head coach Trent Dilfer told us last week at our celebration dinner that he has experienced the best the world has to offer.

He described how he played in the NFL for a decade, won a Super Bowl, landed a dream TV role on ESPN's Monday Night Football, toured the country in private jets, and played 200 rounds of rounds of golf the year he retired.

And yet he felt "empty." None of these spectacular experiences brought him satisfaction. He even confessed that he was becoming a jerk in the process.

He felt led to coaching young people and after a very personal experience through the work of the Spirit, Trent saw God was using coaching to change his own life and the lives of his players. He realized that "coaching should be renamed mentoring."

And he brings that same philosophy to UAB's program. Football excellence takes a backseat to caring for and investing holistically into the students on the team. "We may not win many games," Coach Dilfer said, "but we're pouring into these young men." Rest assured they will win games, but will do so by winning young men through the love of Jesus Christ.

Please pray for Coach Trent Dilfer as he invests into the UAB Football team. Ask God to bless the upcoming partnership between the Aspire Movement and UAB Football to provide opportunities for coaches and players to invest into the next generation.
