This Sunday was a display of the fruit of IPC Youth's labor, a six-week endeavor where they collectively crafted prayers, liturgy, and sermons for Youth Sunday, centered on Choosing Joy. Their hard work and dedication are truly appreciated, and we're proud of the 30 youth who participated in various capacities throughout the day.

We also took time to acknowledge our graduating seniors and commission the Chiapas, Mexico mission team as they prepare for their departure this Friday for Spring Break. The celebration continued with a lunch honoring our seniors and their families, a time filled with laughter, fond memories, and love.

It was an inspiring day of joyful worship and leadership. Our gratitude goes to all who supported, encouraged, and prayed for our youth.

IPC Youth have spent the last 6 weeks writing and planning all elements of worship during our Wednesday night Midweek Meetups. Many will lead us through liturgy, seniors will preach, and two youth will share their musical gifts.

Unplugged & Untangled Presbytery Youth Retreat 2026 🔌

Through this theme discerned by our Youth Council, we explored what things might be causing distraction from our faith and relationship with God. We were empowered by Rev. John McCrosky, our keynoter, to be selective about the things we allow to consume our attention so that we may be able to hear God’s call.
This annual retreat is put on by the Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley Youth Council (SLPYC). SLPYC is a group of youth and adults from churches around the presbytery who come together to discern what they would like to hear, see, and do at this retreat. They discerned a theme, worked with our keynoter, planned music, energizers, and recreation events! Their energy was infectious and we are so proud of their hard work.

IPC youth SLPYC members include: Murphy Peterson, Shep Ray, Kate Austin, and Anne Pringle.

Gatlinburg 2026 was unforgettable! ✨
We reflected on who is at our table, what influences us, and and how we can turn our attention to creating spaces of belonging! Highlights included a lively silent disco 🪩 at the house, a hike through the Great Smoky National Park, and the first journey of IPC’s brand-new passenger van 🙌. Huge thanks to our incredible volunteers who make it all possible!

January 9 - 10 - Confirmation Retreat ☀️
Our youth gathered with others from across the presbytery to explore what the confirmation process means and looks like, and dive into some of the central tenets of our PC(USA) faith. We were fortunate to hear from 5 pastors from the Presbytery who graciously shared their wisdom and offered fresh perspectives. This group will continue the journey throughout the semester as we move toward Confirmation Sunday on April 12.

As always, it was such a joy to be back within the gates of Montreat.
4 days in the mountains, 15 IPC Youth alum, coming from 10 different colleges. Grateful for these young adults choosing to return to this sacred place, to be together, and exploring the ‘Strains of Joy’ we experience in our lives.

We had a WonderFull week with our rising 7th and 8th graders at Montreat Middle School Conference last week! We explored the wonder and fullness of God’s creation through keynote, small group, worship, and recreation!

Thank you MMSC for reminding us that God’s love is so wonderful, and we’re full of wonder too!

Montreat 2025 reminded us that we are called to reflect the light of Christ to those around us, and that light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it! We are refreshed and renewed for the year ahead until we meet here again! Blessed are you who bear the light and bring it back down the mountain!

Last week at Bibletimes, our Tribal Assistants brought the stories of David to life for the children of IPC. Through crafting slingshots, acting out scripture, kneading bread, and giving piggyback rides, each day we were reminded that God is our Shepherd through every adventure. What a gift to spend the week laughing and learning together. “The Lord looks at the heart”(1 Sam 16:17), and last week, our hearts were full. Shalom friends, till we meet again!

Sunday was a beautiful day for golf! ⛳️ 🌸 ⛳️ It was a joy to welcome our IPC class of 2031 into Youth Group at TopGolf! Looking forward to the years ahead with this class!
We are excited to continue welcoming this grade at 6th Grade Recognition on May 18th in 11am sanctuary worship, with lunch following. We hope your family will join us!
