Hawaii Office of Seicho-No-Ie, a non-denominational religious organization that promotes the way of life of God, Nature, Human Beings are in Essence One to realize world peace through faith in God of only goodness. Masaharu Taniguchi (1893-1985) came to the realization that "human beings are children of God" after years of seeking and devotion, and began publishing the “Seicho-No-Ie” magazine in 1
930 to share his joy. Many of the readers who read the magazine were awakened to the true nature of a "Child of God," overcame various problems in their lives, and formed organizations in various parts of the country, one after another increasing the number of their colleagues. Masaharu Taniguchi, the Seicho-No-Ie Humanity Enlightenment Movement that was brought light to all aspects of human life, has continued to expand by former President of Seicho-No-Ie Rev. Masanobu Taniguchi (1951-). Today, the movement is expanding its circle through bases around the world including Japan, North America, Latin America, Asia-Oceania, and Europe as the “International Peace by Faith Movement,” which aims to realize world peace through faith in God of only goodness. In Hawaii, Seicho-No-Ie publications were already being read around in 1935, with about 40 members. The first Readers’ Meeting to study the teaching was held by enthusiastic followers in 1936. Three years later, in 1939, the Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii Brotherhood Readers Association was formed as a coordinating body. After a lecture tour by the first minister ever to be dispatched from Seicho-No-Ie Headquarters in Japan in l938, Readers’ Meetings and other SNI activities were increasing throughout the islands. After going through a difficult time during the war, the Readers' Meetings resumed in Oahu and many others on the islands, Maui, and Kauai. As the Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii Humanity Enlightenment Movement grew, the Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii Brotherhood Readers Association was reactivated in January 1946 and was granted a charter of incorporation from the Territory of Hawaii in March 1949. In 1950, Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii purchased the property on Matlock Avenue and completed building its center in May 1954 followed by establishing centers in neighboring islands, Big Island, Maui, and Kauai. In 1983, Seicho-No-Ie Hawaii built a facility named Jisso Center in Kaneohe as a place to study and practice the teachings. Under the guidance of Rev. Yoshiko Teshigawara, Bishop of Seicho-No-Ie U.S.A. (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063868338005) and Chief of Hawaii Missionary Area, the Seicho-No-Ie Humanity Enlightenment Movement in Hawaii continues to expand. Today, because of mankind's excessive economic activities through the misuse of science and technology, we have exceeded the limits of what nature can tolerate, and both nature and mankind are at a point where it is difficult for both to live happily. Therefore, based on the teaching that "God, nature, and human beings are in essence one," Seicho-No-Ie is promoting building the foundation of a "new civilization" through practicing the teachings in an ethical way of life of "no-meat, low-carbon dietary life," "resource-saving, low-carbon way of life," and "nature-emphasis, low-carbon expressive activities" to grow together with nature.
