Hawaii Betsuin BWA

Hawaii Betsuin BWA Buddhist Women's organization Founded in 1898 as Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin Fujinkai. The first president was Kiyoko Imamura, wife of Bishop Yemyo Imamura.

In 1952, to encourage the younger English-speaking members of the Betsuin, Upasika Society was formed by Aiko Fujitani, wife of Bishop Kodo Fujitani. In 2002, the Betsuin Fujinkai and Upasika Society united and established the Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin Buddhist Women's Association. 2012 marks the 115th Anniversary of this organization. al part of the temple, to reach out to the larger community by doing volunteer work and supports educational, spiritual, and youth programs.
