Giving circle church partnered with for a Food Drive / Distribution on 4/4. From 8am - 2pm , we accepted donations , sorted and organized , and advertised for people to drop off items . Donations were available for taking as well for anyone affected by the recent Kona storm who were in need. Excess donations are to be sent to Hawai’i Foodbank , and are currently being held by a community volunteer until they can be dropped off Monday 4/6.

We received $2k to $3k in food donations .

Thank you to Isabelle , CEO of and the wonderful volunteers that came to help , Makiki Christian Church members Emi, Michelle, and to Giving Circle Church members Dave , Ken and Jan , and Elaina , for making this happen . Also a special thanks to a mainland sister church in the UCC (will tag once I have their info) for a generous donation for the purchase of food. Without you all this wouldn’t have been possible !

For any other organizations wanting to partner with the giving circle for community - benefitting events , feel free to direct message here 🙏🏾

Happy New Year Oahu! We hope you and your loved ones are off to a great start.

Our first service of the year focused on perspective and reflecting on God's love for us. We explored the themes of good, bad and neutrality. All are gateways into various parts of the human experience. We understood the world a little deeper as a group through poem, song, gospel and verse.

Our workshop event is coming soon! Less than two weeks away, award-winning storyteller Rev. Rebecca Anderson will be here with us. We hope to see you at the 2 hour event on Saturday, 18 January! "We shout with glorious tongues the coming of hope. All the earth's tribes loosen their voices
To celebrate the promise of Peace.
We, Angels and Mortals, Believers and Non-Believers, Look heavenward and speak the word aloud.
Peace. We look at our world and speak the word aloud. Peace. We look at each other, and into ourselves
And we say without shyness or apology or hesitation.
Peace, My Brother. Peace, My Sister.
Peace, My Soul. Peace." --Excerpt from Maya Angelou's "Amazing Peace"

Our worship service on Sunday was beautiful as always. This service is unique in that it is "The Service of Lessons and Carols", compared to our other services it has more song and poetry. As we sang, we also reflected on the current state of the world. We lit our advent candles in remembrance- Remembrance of Love, joy, hope and peace. Spaces we may feel are always there- but do take care and intention to ensure they remain. In these spaces it reminds us just how close the presence of God always is.

When I see our church gathered, whether we are a couple , a family, or a large group, it is a reminder that all these traits of love, joy, hope and peace are present in each of us no matter where we are. It is a powerful statement against loneliness, despair, hopelessness and hate. For those who may be traveling, visiting family, or maybe spending more time alone this season, your kind and loving spirit was just present in a different way this year and still felt.

Mele Kalikimaka and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou to you and your loved ones!🌺
