"COME, FOLLOW ME."

Jesus’ call is more than an invitation to listen—it is a call to follow, change, and multiply.
In Mark 1:16–20, the disciples heard Jesus, decided to follow, and acted.
As a Christ-centered disciple-making church, we are called to:
RESPOND. → REDIRECT. → RENEW. → REPRODUCE.
The question is not only, “Do I hear Jesus’ call?” but “How will I respond?”

QUIET MOMENTS
Come & See - An Invitation to a New Way of Life
Series: Jesus’ Pathway to Discipleship
Text: John 1:35–39
Arnold Omnes Pasion

SUMMARY
In John 1:35–39, two disciples of John the Baptist heard him say, “Look, the Lamb of God!” They followed Jesus. When Jesus noticed them, He asked, “What do you want?” They answered, “Rabbi, where are you staying?” Jesus simply replied, “Come and see.” They went with Him and spent the day in His presence.
These three statements reveal something important about our journey toward discipleship.

“What do you want?” is a question of fulfillment. Jesus invites us to honestly examine what we are really seeking in life. We spend much of our lives pursuing happiness, success, security, relationships, possessions, recognition, and achievement. We often tell ourselves, “If I only had this, then I would be happy.” Yet even when we achieve what we desire, we can still feel that something is missing. The deepest hunger of our hearts cannot be satisfied by the things of this world. Only God can satisfy the soul He created.

“Where do you stay?” is a question of the desire of the human heart. The disciples were not merely asking for Jesus’ address. Their question revealed a desire to be with Him. They wanted to know Him and spend time with Him. We were created for relationship—with one another, but ultimately with God. Our restless hearts often search for fulfillment in people, possessions, accomplishments, and experiences, when what we truly need is the presence of God.

“Come and see” is an invitation to relationship and the beginning of true spiritual discovery. Jesus did not tell the disciples to understand everything first, fix themselves first, or become perfect first. He simply invited them to come. As they came, they saw. As they spent time with Jesus, they discovered who He was. And that encounter eventually changed the direction of their lives.

This is where the pathway of discipleship begins.
Jesus is still saying, “Come and see.” Come and discover who I am. Come and experience My grace. Come and walk with Me. Come and discover a new way of life—a new way of living.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
Take a quiet moment today and listen to the question Jesus asks:
“What do you want?”
What are you really seeking right now?
Perhaps you are looking for financial security, a better relationship, success, healing, peace, or simply a sense that your life matters. There is nothing wrong with many of these desires, but we must be careful not to ask created things to satisfy what only the Creator can provide.
Sometimes we keep adding things to our lives, hoping that the next achievement, possession, relationship, or experience will finally make us complete. Yet Jesus invites us to stop searching everywhere else and come to Him.
Perhaps the deeper question is not, “What am I missing?” but “Who am I missing?”
Jesus says, “Come and see.”
He does not merely invite us to know about Him. He invites us to know Him. The disciples spent time with Jesus, and their encounter became the beginning of a transformed life.
Today, Jesus invites you to do the same.
Come closer.
Spend time with Him.
Listen to His Word.
Open your heart.
And see for yourself that Jesus is enough.

QUESTIONS FOR DEEPER MEANING
1. What am I truly seeking or hoping will make my life more meaningful and fulfilling?
2. What things have I been depending on to give me the satisfaction, security, or identity that only God can give?
3. What does my desire to “be with Jesus” look like in my daily life?
4. Am I simply learning about Jesus, or am I intentionally spending time with Him and developing a deeper relationship with Him?
5. Who can I invite this week to “come and see” Jesus through my life, my story, my home, or my relationship with Him?

SHORT PRAYER
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for inviting me to come and see. Forgive me for the times I have searched for fulfillment in things that can never truly satisfy. Help me to recognize that my deepest longing is for You.
Teach me to desire Your presence more than the things of this world. Help me to spend time with You, know You more deeply, and allow Your presence to transform the way I live.
And Lord, use my life to invite others to come and see who You are. May they see Your love, grace, hope, and truth through me.
Today, I choose to come closer, to follow, and to discover the new life You have called me to live.
In Jesus’ name.
