Good morning! We'd love for you to join us at the Honey Grove church of Christ this Sunday. Come worship with us as we gather on the first day of the week to honor God, encourage one another, and worship Him in spirit and in truth. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝟒:𝟑𝟕-𝟑𝟗: And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Sometimes the storms of life seem more than we can handle. Trials, worries, and hardships can leave us feeling overwhelmed and afraid. When we try to face those storms alone, the burden often becomes even heavier.

In Mark 4, the disciples found themselves in the middle of a violent storm. Fearful for their lives, they woke Jesus and asked if He cared that they were perishing. Jesus arose and spoke to the sea, saying, "Peace, be still!" Immediately the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Just as He was with His disciples, the Lord is with us through life's storms. When we place our trust in Him and follow His guidance, we can find peace even when the winds are strong.

𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝟐𝟔:𝟏𝟒: And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

Goad – A goad was a long wooden staff, often 6–8 feet in length, fitted with a sharp metal point on one end. It was commonly used to direct and encourage oxen while plowing or performing field work.

When an ox became stubborn, slowed down, or strayed from its path, the driver would prod it with the goad. If the animal kicked against the sharp point, it only injured itself, making its resistance both painful and futile.

In Acts 26, the Apostle Paul is giving his defense before King Agrippa II. Rather than simply defending himself, Paul uses the opportunity to proclaim the gospel of the resurrected Jesus Christ. As he recounts his conversion on the road to Damascus, he recalls the Lord's words to him: "it is hard for you to kick against the goads."

Have you heard about Jesus Christ? Did you know that if you have heard about Him, He wants you to turn for the worldly culture to a life in Christ? To do so, you must obey His Gospel which involves Confessing Him as Christ, Repenting of sins and turning from past life, and Being Baptized in the likeness of His Death rising in the likeness of His Resurrection having a new life in Christ! Why not do so today!

𝟐 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝟐:𝟏𝟓: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

How much effort do we put into sharing the Word of God? Are we simply attending worship each Sunday and filling a pew, or do we leave excited and eager to share what we've learned with others?

The Apostle Paul took every opportunity he had to preach the Gospel. Whether he was standing in a synagogue filled with hostile Jews, before governors and kings, or among friends and fellow Christians, his focus remained the same—telling people about Jesus Christ.

It's easy to become consumed by the busyness of everyday life. Our schedules fill up, our attention is pulled in countless directions, and spiritual priorities can sometimes take a back seat. Yet when life is over, the most important thing we will have done is live faithfully for Christ and help others come to know Him.

As you prepare for worship this Sunday, consider your attitude. Are you attending simply because it's what you've always done, or are you coming with a sincere desire to worship God, grow in His Word, and be equipped to share the message of Jesus throughout the week?

Let's worship with purpose, live with purpose, and speak with purpose—so that others may see Christ in us.
